Just recently, a Best buy in my area closed down. I had just gotten paid the day the "going out of business" sale kicked off, so I figured I'd drop in and Check out the deals. None of the big ticket items had dropped much in price, so I headed into the gaming section. $120 and 14 games later, I've now got a shelf-full of RPG's, FPS's and Racing games just waiting to be played. I already had a few games from my collection that I hadn't beat, but now I'm just over-whelmed. It's not that I don't have the time or energy, I just have NO IDEA where to start.

Has anyone else found themselves in the same place I'm in now? Also, what do you think I should start with? (games are listed below)

Call of Juarez
Dark Sector
Demon's Souls
End War
Fallout: NV
The Fight
GranTurismo 5
Katamari Forever
Lost planet
MGS4
Need for speed: Pro street
Need for speed: Underground
Oblivion
Resistance 2

You should start with returning Dark Sector or trading it in at you local used game store (Gamestop or Vintage Stock for example) and getting money/credit to get something decent, since Dark Sector sucked (in my opinion at least).

As for a better answer, I'd go with Fallout first, followed by a racing game, then an FPS (just to keep from burning out on a single type of genre).

Or you can write down the names of each game onto index cards, tape them to a dartboard a play the first one a dart lands on. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe can be used in substitution if you lack a dartboard.

Oblivion. An awesome sandbox game. That and New Vegas are the best games on that list that I've played, in my opinion.

I can't help you much there.
But Resistance 2 seems like a fun place to start for the short, action games and for the longer games I'd go with Demon Souls

exact same thing happened to me when i got all nostalgic and decided to buy over 20 ps2 games off ebay...they are all awesome but i dont have the time or energy to play them...plus there are just too many

however i am playin fallout nv on pc now....so i am a bit of a hypocrite.

i vote for Fallout: NV it is awesome...though you could also play around with some racing and katamari in between fallout sessions

thats the best i can do

After my first major sale on Steam, I found myself in a similar situation. Granted, not to the degree that you're at. But, a backlog none the less. The problem is that it is hard to catch up since Steam always has really good deals on games I want to play.

That reminds me, I really should finish the dozen or so games I've bought but never finished.

As for your question, I've heard a lot of good things about Demon's Souls but I've never played it. But, I've also heard that it is Nintendo Hard?. So, you may want to mix in some of an easier game to keep the rage from boiling over and controllers from flying.

Out of that list, I like Metal Gear Solid 4 the best, then Fallout: New Vegas, then Demon's Souls, then Oblivion in a distant fourth. MGS4 has the best actual gameplay (just be prepared for gratuitous amounts of cutscenes).

My list of Steam games is a complete mess... I have far too much to play through considering the amount of time I have to game... maybe I should cut out another activity in my daily routine. Showering? Eating? Ah, sleeping! Yes, sleeping is pussies!

Not into racing games personally, not heard of some of them on your list either... but Fallout: NV and Oblivion will eat away a good few months of your life XD

Is that the PC version of New Vegas or the console one?

If PC: New Vegas
If not: Demon's Souls

Both fantastic games, but I hear the console builds of NV are buggy as sin. Demon's Souls might actually be less frustrating.

Start with the shorter games and knock them out. Save games like MGS4 for when you have a good amount of time to play as the cutscenes are damn long.

Probably the same for Demon's Souls until you get a feel for the game the first level will likely take you a good hour and a half or so if you die a few times, game is brutal as hell when it comes to forgiveness.

The only game I like of those is New Vegas, so that's my suggestion. Still, lucky you! Sounds like you'll be busy for a fair while ;D

I've heard good things about Demon's Souls though, would have had a look if it weren't a PS3 exclusive.

I had a similar issue when i introduced myself to steam just as the christmas sales began, i think i bought about 55 games (although a good chuck were indie), and i'm also confident i paid less for all of those then your 14 games cost you. As for where to start, i wouldn't advise demon souls due to the difficulty, of the games you listed i loved resistance 2's onlone co-op, best i've ever played.

Katamari is always fun play it if you want a break from seriousness.
PS
only bother with Oblivion if you have the PC version it still has allot of bugs and needs the unofficial patch to run properly.

I would recommend that you start with either: the game that you have been waiting the longest to get your hands on, OR the game that is shortest. Then continue with it in that order, ending with playing the newest/longest last, respectively.
