Yes, I'm sure this thread has been done a million times, but it hasn't been done since I joined. If you want to flame me for being unoriginal, please feel free to go and sit in a dark room and cry about how pathetic you are until you collapse in a shivering heap and die of malnutrition and your body is found by the lady who lives upstairs from you in three weeks because her cat smelled the stench of death and got freaked out. I'm interested in knowing the escapists' all-time favourite games (and telling them mine). Here goes.

Neverwinter Nights
Final Fantasy VII
The Secret of Monkey Island
Deus Ex
Half-Life 1 & 2 & episodes (yes, several games in one slot)
Morrowind
Baldur's Gate
Yoshi's Island
Diablo 2
Grim Fandango

So what are yours?

Don't worry, we've all done this thread before:

Recently, I saw a thread asking what my favorite 3 games were and I couldn't whittle the list down. So I ask you: what are all of your favorite games & bonus points if the list is longer than 10 items & even more bonus point if you sort them by genre or year or something.

Let's get this circus rollin:

Deus Ex (/w HDTP and other graphics improving mods)
Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines (/w the unofficial patch)
Mass Effect (and not ME2)
All Valve games (even Richochet)
All Ratchet & Clank games (even Deadlocked, but not the PSP ones haven't played them)
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
Crackdown
Saints Row 2
GTA: San Andreas
Mirror's Edge
Quake 1-3 (or should I say I, II, III)
Battlefield 2 v1.21 (they've since patched the fun out of the game)
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Starfox 64
Goldeneye
Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Monkey Island 1-3 (Secret, Revenge, Curse)
Grim Fandango
Space Quest 3-6
Ringworld (1, Revenge, Return)
Halo:CE (on PC, I much prefer mouse&keyboard for FPSs)

and I'll probably add more as I think about it.

have yet to play Planescape Torment or Fallout 2, I suspect at least on of them will make the list.

Sorry. It was pre-emptive counter-hostility because I felt sure someone was gonna have a go at me.

Keep 'em coming. I'm seeing a lot more recent games on other people's lists than on mine. I think it takes a while for the greatest games to sink in, for me.

In order of favourite to slightly less favourite:

Portal 2
Half-Life 2 & Episodes
Portal
Dead Space 2
Call of Duty 4
Fallout: New Vegas
Minecraft
Half-Life: Opposing Force
Echo Bazaar
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath (haven't been able to play this in about six years, though, so that may just be nostalgia talking)

Things did get a little fuzzy at around the 6th place mark, but that list seems about right. All of those games have a special place in my heart for one reason or another. :)

Cod 2
runescape (when I was younger this was the shit)

Why do these threads always pop up? Wasn't there just a top 5 thread the other day? Besides these sort of threads have absolutely no value or purpose beyond a smug feeling of satisfaction as you look over other people's lists.

D2
Star Wars Galaxies
Demons Souls
Morrowind
Super Mario 64
Half-Life 2
Crash Bandicoot 3
Sim City 3000

I can't be assed to think of two more.

Can't think of 10 so here's 8:

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time + Majora's Mask*
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2*
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Fallout 3
Bioshock
The Timesplitters series*
Halo: CE

*Counted as one because I say so.

Mass Effect
Metal Gear Sold
Halo
Bioshock
Zelda:OoT
Hal-Life 2
Morrowind
Banjo Kazooie
Mario 64
Deus Ex: Human Revolution

And Deus Ex just kicked off DeadSpace for the top 10.

To help me decide, I definitely had to separate "greatest games" from "games I would play again repeatedly" for the sake of narrowing it down. So, by platform...

SNES -
Super Metroid; This game is so good that all I measure all other games by it. Perfect game, period.
Earthbound; Years later this is still my favorite "RPG", well-written and hilarious to boot.
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past; Undisputibly a classic and an apex for the series along with OoT.
Final Fantasy 3 (6 in Japan); Challenging, moving, beautiful music, this is FF at its best.
PC -
Portal; I tell even non-gamers I know to play this game; it is a life experience to play Portal.
Fallout, Fallout 2; Games can be serious and gritty, and still be humerous and cerebral. These games have some of the best actual CHOICES that can be made in game. A "mission" could have 5 or 6 ways to complete or work around it... these games are pure genius.
Elder Scrolls: Morrowind; I love naming my swords and armor with a huge character limit, allowing for such gems as the "Sword of Trisecting Destruction". Fun game, once you cheat to make your character walk faster.
Minecraft; I want any future children of mine to play this game.
Playstation 2 -
Shadow of the Colossus; This is a breathtaking game, and I never get tired of stabbing magic weak points.
Psychonauts; Anything bad you hear about this game is insignificant compared to the clever design and writing of this game. Play it.
XBOX -
Ninja Gaiden Black; My favorite challenge. Rewarding to beat, demanding to master.
Gamecube -
Resident Evil (remake); I love Silent Hill, but this is my vote for the scariest game ever.

In no order:

Kingdom Hearts 1
Kingdom Hearts 2
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
Assassin's Creed II
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
Portal
Portal 2
Uncharted 2
Oblivion
Fallout 3

There's probably more, but I didn't want to hurt myself thinking of my absolute favourites.

EDIT: When I get my hands on DX:HR and Skyrim, I'm sure they will make that top 10 also.
