We all have an indie gem or two that we love but no one else knows about so here's the opportunity to sound off our favourites and why we love them. Mine are;

1. To the Moon: beautiful music, a really touching story more than make up for a lack of game play (give freebird's other games a try).

2. Bastion: great music, great art, fantastic narration and fun gameplay come together to give a memorable experience.

3. Recettear: I love JRPGs and the anime style and running the shop quickly becomes addictive.

4. Jamestown: Not usually a fan of the top down shooters but I love this one a good selection of ships local co-op and a pleasing retro look (I love 16 bit sprites).

5. Limbo: Less is often more, as is the case with this hauntingly atmospheric adventure game.

So there is my list, what are yours.

I don't know a Top 5 list off the top of my head (Though I'm pretty sure I made one a few weeks ago... :p), but some of my favorites are Minecraft, Terraria, Limbo, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Dear Esther, Bastion, Super Meat Boy, etc....

I really enjoyed Night Sky. Limbo was also awesome, along with Sanctum and Bastion. Jamestown's pretty fun also.

Nº1 = IJI and Bastion (a tie).
On IJI we have Deus Ex 1 + (Super Metroid - Metroidvania) and Bastion....you already know but both are rich in the "I have sand in my eyes, i swear. I am not crying for the future of these people, honest!!"

Nº2 = The Binding of Isaac
Someone call David Lynch and tell him that the king of mindfuckery title has been passed to Ed McMillen

Nº3 = Frozen Synapse
Its nice to see an turn based strategy game since Heroes 3 of Might and Magic but with a very interesting innovation that goes beyond meta. If you do not end up paranoid at the end of the day like when you play Deus Ex for the story then you are doing it wrong (shares the Cyberpunk Dystopia as Deus Ex)

Nº4 = Magicka

Nº5 = Hyper Princess Pitch and Hero Core
HPP is a Operation Carnage remake with the silliness and the explosions up to eleven
HC is pure Metroidvania in retro art black and white and you play someone who looks like Boba Feet jetpack and everything

EDIT - Here comes honorable mentions:
Cave Story
Noitu Love 2
The Stanley Parable
World of Goo
Super Meat Boy

Minecraft misses the spot because it faaaaaaaaar from being completed at all and the lack of a tutorial for people that play for the first time its just a flaw too glaring to leave aside. If Notch could work out a tutorial that feels natural (like starting in a village and seing the villagers make a wondefull building on the spot) and not forced, then it could achieve something greater. Otherwise, people will be forced to look for Youtube videos to see what is so awesome about Minecraft (It shouldn't be like that)

I'll probably miss something (and I'm grouping series), but for now I'll say:

- Amnesia: The Dark Descent and the Penumbra games. As true survival horror games, they all have their moments. Well, except for Requiem.

- Trine and Trine 2. Fantastic co-op and truly beautiful environments, even if the puzzle elements are very simplistic.

- Bastion. I think everyone knows about this by now.

- Gemini Rue. Probably the best point-and-click adventure ever, gameplay-wise. Nothing ridiculous. Story is pretty good too.

- Skydrift. It's Mario Kart in planes. Lots of fun.

1. Last Scenario - An old school jrpg that blows away anything I've seen in recent years aside from Lost Odyssey and maybe Blue Dragon (haven't gotten very far yet). The characters feel real and the story manages to be almost a deconstruction of traditional rpg tropes while also being a love letter to them.

2. Charles Barkley: Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden - An extremely tongue in cheek rpg starring Charles Barkley himself as he attempts to find where he and his son Hoopz fit into a world where Basketball has been outlawed while unraveling a government conspiracy.

3. Exit Fate - The story of how a pacifist lieutenant becomes a General while trying to decipher the mysteries of his own past and the unknown power within him. Very much inspired by the Suikoden series (i've heard some claim it's an homage/rip off of # 2 but I haven't played that one so make your own opinion) the game features 75 playable characters and large scale battles between entire armies that feel inspired by the Fire emblem series.

4. Shoot 1up - Highly traditional top down shmup, until you get a 1up and realize that you're now controlling two ships. You can actually control up to 30 ships at once (even more with a particular power-up). My personal record is only 18 though. Amazing fun, very challenging, and cheap. Assuming you can figure out where the indie games got moved to on xbox live anyway. :Shakes fist in rage:

5. Master of the Wind - This one surprised me. A superhero rpg set in a relatively traditional fantasy setting. The story of one man's journey to find the truth behind the shady dealings of a chain of weaponsmiths (think evil WalMart, new concept for their world, sounds silly but it works) and his skeletal partner's mysterious past.

runners up: Cthulhu Saves the World, XOP, XOP Black, Bonesaw, Sunset Over Imdahl, Dhux's Scar

I can only mention two, and I'm not sure if they count as indie. Probably.

1) Comic Book Hero - Text-based simulation game involving superheroes. Only heroes or anti-heroes, no villains.

2) Total Extreme Wrestling 2010 - Text-based simulation game about the management side of wrestling. If you enjoyed the GM mode from Smackdown Vs. Raw, you will lose your mind with this. So in-depth.

It is still Indie but there are many things to do even after reaching full release. Too many things to fix

My favourite indie titles? Sure.

-Dwarf Fortress

-Mount & Blade: Warband

-Bastion

-Desktop Dungeons

-World of Goo

Dwarf Fortress and Mount & Blade especially have just become two of my favourite all round games regardless of their more humble origins. Spectacular experience not available anywhere else with hundreds of hours worth of entertainment to be had. Great games!

Holy cow, someone aside from two people I know one of which I am myself enjoyed that game!

Though I must say the frequency of that girl I forgot the name of that keeps trying to sell you overpriced items popping up and ruining my combos constantly made me wanna hit the joint and get hammered with Charme...then again, that could have been fun, now that I think of it.
