I disagree that S.T.A.L.K.E.R is only good with mods. Stalker's atmosphere is good enough without them, but it CAN be frustrating to some. What I (And many others) recommend is to play through it at least once (Some people say as many as 3 times, but I think thats a little much) unmodded, then play through with whatever mod you want.
I just feel that we should at least apreciate GSC's work, even if its just once, before going for the communities efforts.

Anything on Steam really, I always suggest Brainbread, Sven Co-oP, Natural Selection, those games are all amazing and free if you have a basic copy of half-life, updates and addons are free too of course, AMX supported as well.
The old Call of Duty games are always great to play again, Max Payne is of course amazing, SWAT4 was a great game too for tactical people.

Well Brink is coming out in March as well as Crysis 2. Both have potential. Other wise Half Life 2 is a must play game.
STALKER is fantastic. I can definitely understand why some people wouldn't like it, but it's absolutely worth a try.5t3v0 said:

TPS: Max Payne, Freedom Fighters, Rogue Trooper, Star Wars Jedi Knight series (can be played in first or third person mode), hell I'd even count Mass Effect 2 among these
FPS: basically what people already said + old Medal of Honor series, Brothers in arms, you can even try some RPGs such as Fallout 3 or Deus Ex possibilities are endless
