Top ten 2010 games

I was going through my Xbox magazine a few days ago, and I saw their list of 100 games that are coming out in 2010. Some of the articles got me excited for whatss coming in the near future so I was curious about what games my fellow Escapist community members were looking forward to.

Here is my list for 2010

1. Metro 2033: A game set in the vast Moscow underground subway system twenty years after a nuclear war. An intense first person shooter survival game that seems to have a focus on realism (but it's the kind of realism that makes the game more immersive) Created by the guys who did S.T.A.L.K.E.R (4A Games)

2. Lost Planet 2: Fighting giant Akrid monsters with three buddies sounds like a great way to spend a lazy afternoon. Created by Capcom.

3. Crackdown 2: The city has gone to the dogs (well actually mutants) and it is up to your super powered agent to restore order and generally kick ass. Created by Ruffian games

4. I Am Alive: a first person survival game that puts you in Chicago after a magnitude 9.5 earthquake. Rally survivors, build your survival camp and try and survive in a city destroyed. Created by Ubisoft Shanghai

5. Fallout New Vegas: The epic RPG series takes you to the American Southwest to survive the irradiated wasteland and fight off the super mutants and slavers. The inclusion of the optional Survival mode will give hardcore post-apocalypse enthusiasts a greater challenge. Created by Obsidian

6. Alpha Protocol: An RPG set in the dark and twisted world of Espionage, will you be suave like James Bond, or ruthless like Jack Bauer? Created by Obsidian

7. Kingdom under Fire 2: The Japanese battlefield command game just got a whole lot bigger (and appears to have muskets) Created by Blueside & Phantagram

8. Brink: A fast paced first person shooter that will have players scrambling over cover and mounting obstacles to gain the upper hand on their opponents and secure objectives. Created by Splash Damage.

9. Mafia 2: The first game had you playing as the made man of a Depression era mafia family. A new script, new locations and new characters with the same 40's sequel mobster theme will make this an interesting sequel. Created by 2K Czech.

10. L.A Crime Noire. You play a detective in L.A During the Depression era. From investigating crime scenes to short action sequences and new facial construction technology, this game plans to deliver a powerful story in a rich emviroment. Created by Rockstar.

I barely know what's coming out this year.

Your choice of number 4 and number 10 sound interesting though.

I don't really know what's coming out. Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 were 2 of them. I suppose I'm looking forward Fallout NV.

I will not chose anything, simply because hype of a game alone is not enough to make a top 10. It's the worst kind of list, because not only does it overhype games, it may also "underhype" games that have the potential of being the best game ever but get voted too low down, which could put people off it.

And it's selling for 30 FREAKEN DOLLARS! on Steam at the moment! It JUST came out (English version)!

Hubi, you owe it to your self to purchase it in the next 4 months.

Mine won't make it to 10 but:

1. 'Bioshock 2': (which I have bought already) The sequel to my favourite game of all time.

2. 'Splinter Cell Conviction': Always been a Splinter Cell fan (never played Double Agent though) and this one seems like it will be pretty good.

3. 'Fallout New Vegas': Fallout 3 was one of the handful of RPG's I have actually liked and it's enough to make me want to play this one too.

... That's it for games I am definitely planning to buy.

4. 'Mass Effect 2': It seems interesting, but I will need to play Mass Effect first I reckon if I choose to get it.

Ones I have a small interest in (but probably won't get):

5. 'Aliens Versus Predator': Loved the two PC games, but the demo has put me off of this one, so I shall wait and see if it looks better once it's released.

6. 'Halo Reach': ODST disillusioned me to what hype can do, so I am simply keeping an eye on this one.

7. 'Dead Rising 2': Apparently no co-op, which has killed this games chances of a purchase from me, I usually prefer single player but this is the kind of game where co-op is what would make it fun. It would have been extremely easy to include it too.

8, 9 and 10. I am not aware of any others that I would have any interest in.

1. Mass Effect 2 - It was my most wanted game, i've got it now but it should technically stay on the list.

2. Bioshock 2 - I have yet to get it until i have enough time and money.

3. Fallout: New Vegas

4. Red Dead Redemption

5. Fable 3

Those are my definites.

7. Dead Rising 2

8. (Possibly) The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf if it gets released.

9. I Am Alive

These i am not sure of yet.

Oh and by the way OP, Fallout: NV is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Bethesda are just publishing it.

Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 would have been high on that list before they came out. Mass Effect 2 delivered, Bioshock 2 did not.

1. Mass Effect 2 - already out and I already beat the game on Insanity
2. Mafia 2 - I can't even express how much I want this game. First one was perfect.
3. Splinter Cell: Conviction - Played every game on all systems. I'm a huge stealth genre fan.
4. Fallout: New Vegas - it's Fallout, it's classic even before it's released.
5. L.A. Noire - Rockstar never failed before and it sounds original. We'll see.
6. Red Dead Redemption - I love westerns. And free roaming one from Rockstar sounds awesome.
7. Crysis 2 - I think Crysis was an awesome FPS not just pretty graphics.
8. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - hey, it has dedicated servers, huge maps, weapon mods and whatnot.
9. Kane and Lynch 2: First one had a great story, and incredible voice acting and dialogue. It was very cinematic when people talk in the middle of a gunfight.
10. Max Payne 3 - intentionally on the 10th place. New voice for Max, new developer - new experience. I'm hyped but skeptic.

1. Mass Effect 2.
2. MAG (and it sure as hell didn't disappoint, other than the whole SVER being overpowered thing)
3. Heavy Rain.
4. God of War 3.
5. Crysis 2.
6. Metro 2033.
7. Last Guardian.
8. Yakuza 3!!!!!! (and Yakuza 4 for Japan!)
9. Valkyria Chronicles 2.

And there's a three way tie for 10th place: Persona 3 Portable, ModNation Racers, and Witcher 2, assuming that Witcher 2 is going to be released this year.

I kinda wish they would do a Fallout in a different country, it'd be a different experience seeing how the war affected say Russia or France etc, you get the idea.

As for a top ten, it's too early to say really...
