I actually see 3 funnel clouds OVER MY HOUSE and numerous warnings as well. It's really freaky, anyone else have storm stories?

I'll be off for now, it's too dangerous up here so I won't be back on until tomorrow after 3:00 sometime.

had 8 fucking tornadoes touch down and move a round my house in the towns around me, all towns are within 10 miles of my house, was standing in my shed when lightning hit my house, and blew over two big ole oak trees in my yard, wind was going fast enough to move the golf ball sized gravel in my drive way, enough rain to fill my 3 foot tall culvert under my driveway, enough wind and rain to spin little mini tornadoes off of my house, i ran out to put a stake on a small is oak tree about 10 feet tall 3-4 inches thick that had bent down about 60 degres to the groundwas out for 30 second and was abosolutely soaked, i was out mowing on the tractor when i saw it coming shut off the mower and headed for the house, 30 seconds later the rain got there, heard the lightning looked to my left went "oh shit here it comes" and took off. i experienecd the entire storm in a sheet metal shed with a dog and a kitten. It was absolutely exthilerating

the whole storm blew by my house in 15 minutes though

Heh, had a tornado warning over town last night. Storm seemed to just stop over our little settlement, while for miles around it was clear.

Um...good luck?

...kinda stupid to say since you won't get it until tomorrow, but...

Hmm here in Dutchland we don't have tornado's. Would be fun to see one though, as long as I don't stand in its path.

It got pretty bad here in GA last night. Golf ball sized hail, lightning like you wouldn't believe, outages for 2 hours, and flash flooding. Good times. Worst part was my trash can got knocked over, so I hate to pick it all up. Bleh

My family and I were on a tiny little fishing boat in the middle of a lake on a cloudy day, becausse we didn't expect it to rain, and just when we threw our fishing lines in the water it started pouring. We reeled them in and started heading back to shore when the winds started picking up until we actually saw a small tornado on the water.

I would say you're very lucky. I've never had to suffer through one either, and I never want to.

I've had people from the U.S. Midwest express to me how much they'd hate being in a California earthquake. My instant response is always a disbelieving stare.

I lived in Indiana for 18 years and had my house torn apart by a tornado. It sounded like a freight train was right next to my face, even with my hands over my ears.

It was quite traumatic.

When my dad was in the Air Force, we lived at Incirlik, Turkey for a few years. Had two quakes there. One was a 5.8 and the other a 5.4 the next day. Needless to say, I was pretty traumatized from it. Scariest time of my life.

Well, that's one of the biggest things I hate about living in Texas, is the weather.

Even though I didn't go through the worst of it, Hurricane Ike was just really annoying, not having power for two weeks kind of sucked.

Anyways, good luck with the tornado.

An update:
The storm WAS supposed to last until midnight, it stopped about 1/2 an hour ago. TONS of rain, super high winds, and the funnel clouds were rotating and DANGEROUSLY close to the ground. The main force went south (guessing) and tornadoes were reported for a while. VERY SCARY at the time, now it's just a mist. We are starting dinner at 10:00.

Thanks or all of the support/replies. For a while there I was concerned that we would have no house...

If I saw three funnel clouds over my house, I'm not sure I'd have the composure to tell you guys until after the fact. Hope you're ok.

Once I had a tornado's wind right in my backyard. Blew all my shit around. Ugh.

Another time I was in my backyard and I actually watched as a funnel cloud formed in the distance. Have you guys ever seen that? Scariest thing I've ever seen. It was all slow and menacing-like.

i've had tornados not too far from me, i've had the effects of it tho, ie high winds and such

still remember as a kid lean forward and being pushed upright by the wind and then i turned around and leaned back and got pushed upright again. it was both freaky and really darn cool at the same time

i've been in more nasty blizzards and snow storms tho. once was in a white out so bad, i had to trust my steering wheel/alignment rather than my eyes, now that was scary
