Presumably the people who contributed to making TW:WH the best selling entry of the entire TW series. CA are gonna be riding that train for a long time to come.

Despite being one of those people, I'm kinda ambivalent about it. If the follow up games are just going to be new armies on a new map but with the same mechanics then I'll give it a miss or wait for a sale. The factions aren't distinctive enough to justify paying for more of them. Infantry is always infantry, archers are always archers and cavalry is always cavalry regardless of whether you're controlling humans, orc or bipedal lizards.

What if its a giant rat wheel that shoots lightning at thing?

Also, they're adding naval battles. So there's that.

They are? So they got Man o War license? Because I would have heard of that from the Steam Forums of the game.

The Skaven are a myth, the rat-men creatures you thought you see was perhaps some variation of Beastmen ;)

Last I checked they were adding naval, but not as full battles. They will have a auto resolve for navel combat.

Wait, WHAT? The first game is barely a year old, yet they're already pushing out a sequel? What in the mosquito fucking fuck? Has this been a business model for Creative Assembly in the past? I've been thinking of getting the game, but there's already a sequel coming out. I was sure it had to be a typo, until the logo quite clearly displayed the number in the background.

1. Its just buisness, we all know its an expansion, its just that from a marketing standpoint its much more catchier to call it 2.

And also they are gonna combine the campaign the campaign maps of both games down the line if you already own the first game I think.

I suggest you get the first game in the possible Summer Sale.

2. When you think about it, they have been doing yearly releases:

Empire: 2009

Napoleon: 2010

Shogun 2: 2011

Fall of the Samurai: 2012

Rome 2: 2013

Attila Total War is the exception for it coming out in 2015 but that's because they were making mini expansions for Rome 2 like Wrath of Sparta and Caeser in Gaul. But than Warhammer 1 came out in 2016 so I guess they are back on track in the yearly releases.

They are makeing one. I hope they take their time on it because the games started to stagnate a little before warhammer. (and warhammer only feels fresh because warhamer) Give them time to think up new systems.

Hyped as hell, always wanted a game focusing on dinosaurs eating lots of elves, and then to play the edgy version of those elves and go on a raid spree to capture tons of slaves for my perverted pleasure. Yeah exactly what my heart desires ^

Judging from some of the comments here though, I think I'm right in my belief that calling the expansion packs Warhammer 2-3 was PR shooting itself in the foot.
Besides that it will make things awkward if they ever do want to release a Warhammer trilogy sequel years from now (and i'm fanboy enough to want it, plus i think a lot of the basic mechanics in TW 1 are kinda meh and the engine should be redesigned from the ground up to support things like a magic system more in like with King Arthur the RPG series or having mixed gender group units, also more unit sync kills), this just leads to people getting annoyed cos they think the warhammer games are fully fledged sequels that overwrite the old ones.

Seriously, Total Warhammer Expansion: Lustria and Total Warhammer Expansion:The far East would have gone down way better.

Why? Aside from elves that contradicts the fluff.
Simply because of the elves, I feel wood elves in particular should have a lot of mixed gender units and their hard segregation feels so unlike the wood elves..Damnit they do what they want, they are wood elves, they don't care for your stupid human gender norms! But this also applies to various degrees to the other elves, dark elves in particular should have mixed gender frontline units whereas high elves maybe not (not so sure about them, they seem more traditional).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for mixed gender units for ALL (though admittedly i wouldn't be opposed to the idea, i played warhammer online where this was the case and always thought the empire chicks in it to be badasses xP) but because the engine itself isn't designed to support it, this is something that can't be implemented at all now (this is what some CA dev answered when asked about this anyways). And this is why we have no male wardancers and no female waywatchers, lame.

You wouldn't be able to tell with elves though. They're all tall, androgynous and slim and unless they get boob armor you wouldn't know.

Which means you have to accentuate their feminine characteristics in order to make it clear that they're women which is a whole 'nother can of worms.

I'm not convinced that's true, androgynous does not mean identical, even if the differences are slight and the most obvious signs would be differing heights.

No need for boob armor armor or accentuation of features, different, fitting models when appropriate is more then enough.

In some cases like dark elf frontline units who are fully armored, you'd only be able to tell from the voices (and the occasional elf head that drops if you decapitate them) and that's fine too imo.
