I feel that there's no point to having the best cards in the game if you can't use them right?
i built a deck 5 years ago that can beat any deck i face even now, everyone who plays advanced format gets all pissed off at me and whines about how it's "not fair"

but you know what? look at my lifepoints and compare them to yours. i got 3000 and you got -2000 from my Chaos Emperor Dragon/Cyber Jar Combination. don't whine because i can beat the shit out of you and you wanted to offload your "banned" cards for shit like another mystical space typhoon and whatever JUST got unbanned.

honestly, am i not smarter for making a deck i dont need to ever buy new cards for because its so good? im not the one begging for new cards and spending a thousand dollars a year on packs/singles/promos.

and its so funny whenever the cards they got rid of in the last banned list get unbanned (like Monster Reborn) and suddenly there's a mad dash for those cards. and guess who they come to? that's right ME because i was the one who ended up with all their unwanted "banned" cards that are suddenly valuable

i was smart enough to hold on to 9 monster reborns, 10 dark holes and 8 change of hearts (which i consider the "holy trinity" of banned cards that occasionally get unbanned) now they all want them and yet they STILL get mad at me for having a deck that can smash theirs into dust.

EDIT: For all of you idiots who think im actually running that many of those kinds of cards in my deck, fuck off because i already stated i play by the traditional format RULES, which means i follow all the limits imposed in that.

they couldve made a traditional format deck that stood toe-to-toe with mine whenever they wanted, but NOOOO they wanted to take the illogical and more expensive route of advanced format XD (how i laugh at them)

oh yeah, and the discussion value here is "do any of you yu-gi-oh players ALSO play traditional and what kind of deck do you run?"

here is my deck list (i only have 1 of each card)

I don't play any more, but when I did play Yu-Gi-Oh!, I didn't like Traditional Format. It just...didn't feel right to me. Using "overpowered" cards wasn't something I needed to do, and nobody I played against played Traditional either, meaning I wouldn't have anyone to play against anyway.

no, i only have one of each of those in my deck, but i hold on to all the others in a binder and whatnot because i know they get unbanned occasionally... and thats when the cash starts rolling in >:)

I haven't collected for years but I dug up my old deck and played with some friends one day, and apparently half my deck is illegal, then again I can get one of my cards to have 12500 attack points as well as attack twice and inflict damage if the opponent's card is in defense mode. yes I know, I'm cheap.

People still buy those cards?

I enjoy tag force games you get so many more cards :3

traditional decks take the challenge of playing really, the restrictions are kinda nice since you have to come up with some strategies you never would have thought of.

Well, there's alot wrong with your deck.

You should followed the banned list. No to be rude (and its going to be really hard not to), but only d*cks use those cards from the older decks. Also, I'm Assuming you follow the three card rule. Where you can only have 3 of the same type card (unless their semi limited, where you get two, or limited where you get one, or banned, but thats already been covered). If not, then no wonder they *****, you have nine monster reborns and ten dark holes.

But I'll move on from that. I dont play traditional. Well.. I dont know if i cant say that. I do, but i odnt. The main base of my current A deck is the magician's structure deck and then i build and beef up. I've also made decks out of random booster packs that completely own. One of them is my C deck. But regardless, I have cards from the old yugioh list, the newer ones, and cards from things like Shonen Jump. And I've dominated. I beat the Cyberjar/Chaos Emperor Dragon combo with ease. Crushed the Exodia ploys (because, contrary belief, you do have to PLAY the cards, not just hold them in your hand) and wiped the floor with other supposedly unbeatable decks (the six elemental spirits included, if you know what that is. I forget at the moment, only I've ever done it and one other person i played did it as far as i know personally).

So no, you're not really all that good. To one person you're cheating, to another you're playing weak opponents, to people like me, you've just never played people like me. And to another person you're playing with broken cards, since in those days, sacrifice didnt exist, you played with 2000 LP and couldnt attack on the turn a card was summoned. But i dont know how you play, so i cant really say.

I'm old school, I took it back up when everyone stopped changing the freaking rules

My deck constantly changes (card limit) but it's warrior or dragon or mage depending on my mood... usually Dragon

I don't deal with ban lists... mainly because they made the freaking card so I'm useing it!

plus I play for fun not profit

(and "ban" and "unhindged/unglued" are TOTALLY DIFFERENT! [magic fans reading this])

Holy shit kid... Traditional is bullshit.

How is it irrational to not want to lose the game on turn one by every single deck played? To go into sponsored tournaments and win packs?

You're the illogical one.

That's kind of why I quit playing that game years ago. For one it got to damned expensive having to constantly buy cards to reconfigure my deck when stuff got banned, and secondly someone introduced me to WoW so yeah....

I never quite understood the logic for banning cards because. I feel it undermines the idea of the game. (building a deck that anticipates every move you opponent may make) If you're going to release powerful cards let us use them, it's not as if they didn't have countless counters out there for them. Of course the other side of this argument is that banning overpowered cards forces players to adapt their decks for different strategies.

Still, I did ever so enjoy watching people squirm when I dropped Final Countdown on the table and told them they had 20 turns to beat me. Of course 20 turns can be a long time in that game so I built in back up plans such as exodia and exodia necros. Essentially my deck was built so one of three things happened. 1)All 5 exodia pieces found their way to my hand, 2)If any of those pieces found their way to the graveyard I had exodia necros as my trump card, 3)Pending failure of options 1 and 2 (which to be honest happened frequently) I had my deck stacked with enough delay tactic cards that my opponent would spend 3/4 of the match trying to re-summon his monsters on the field.

Not a perfect deck, but I got lots of laughs out of watching people's frustration of trying to bypass my defenses.

Never said I played for profit. I mean, I do. From time to time, my friends and i have played for money, but we always play for cards. No reason you cant put up and ante unless you're sure of your deck.

Though I will say this, a good, realy duelist (and no, thats not me on my high horse, its an honest thing), doesnt need to rely on banned cards to play.

Man, it's been a while. The last time I played, my friend got pissed at me and told me to leave his house because I made a totally legal move that wiped him out, but he thought I cheated. As for decks, I always had three. One fiend, one warrior and one toon.
