'Transformers Dark of the Moon officially became the top movie at the box office this year when it earned an additional $47.1 million in its second weekend to bring its domestic total to $261.1 million. It thereby replaced The Hangover Part II in the top spot. Two other new -- and relatively low-cost -- films also had solid performances. Horrible Bosses opened with $28.3 million, while Zookeeper debuted with $20.1 million. Nevertheless, those grosses weren't nearly enough to prevent the overall box office from declining about 19 percent from the same weekend a year ago when Despicable Me debuted with $56.4 million

The top ten films over the weekend, according to final figures compiled by Box Office Mojo (figures in parentheses represent total gross to date)
1. Transformers Dark of the Moon, Paramount, $47,103,276, 2 Wks. ($261,078,700)

I'm pretty sure it'll get beaten by the new Harry Potter movie.

*glances* I see a Harry potter movie is coming up.

Optomis Prime is no match for a boy with a lightning bolt on his skull.

anyway, yeah. I'm not surprised, and no one else should be. I'd be more surprised if it werent in the top 3.

I kind of agree with moviebob about it just having to much human for a transformers movie i feel like 70% of the movie I saw was about people and a story involving people like the robots story was a secondary plot...

Also although I myself don't watch Harry potter I am guessing the last on will give it a huge run for the money
