So I had this toy in the mid-80's. I don't even know what brand it was associated with, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a legit Transformer or Go-Bot.

It was pretty large, maybe the size of a large shoebox, and transformed from a boxy shuttle with stubby wings to some kind of ship or aircraft carrier? And also to something on fold-out legs. Any details are really fuzzy... The transforming was simple, I think the sides just flipped down the other way. I remember the main color was blue, and I think the legs where white.

That's really all I can remember and I can't find a picture of it anywhere. I don't even know what to call it, and searching is next to impossible since everything brings up Transformers. ARRRGH!

No, I don't think it was a base, just a weird vehicle thing. (I do remember wanting one of these though.)

Was it a dinosaur that transformed( and rolled out) into a person/robot? Vaguely remember those.

No, just a vehicle. Didn't come with any other figures either, I'm pretty sure it was bought new... My parents could have got it at a yard sale though.

I never saw any other kids with one, probably because it was some weird, cheap, off-brand product.

There was also the Machine-Men brand of Transformers-like toys. Could it have been one of them? They were relatively simple, and most of them transformed by flipping down the sides, splitting the rear half apart into legs and folding up the feet.

I don't suppose you mean...
Transformer's Sky Lynx:
Though since you say it had legs I can't but think this is your guy.

Quickswitch:
I'd say this is more of a longshot considering it's size.

Edit:If by shuttle you meant Space Shuttle if not could you give another example of what type of vehicle?

I don't think so, it didn't transform into a human figure.

The shuttle shape was super simple, like a box with a slanted front for the nose, which I think could fold down to make a ramp to load vehicles or whatever. Sort of original Star Trek shuttlecraft shape.

The white legs were cheap plastic and could fold down from underneath. Like an AT-AT but with little wheels on the feet maybe?

To transform it I think you would just flip this thing inside out.

Amazing I can still sort of picture this 20 years later.
