Trojan empty handed?

Has anybody finished playing trojan, intentionally losing your sword and shield and finished the game using only empty hands(and kicks)?

An old nes sidescroller featuring the protagonist with funky hair, sword and shield.

I have no Idea why it was called trojan, but I guess things didn´t have to make sense in the 1990s.
