TRON: Legacy - how badly did it suck?

I know this is a bit behind the curve, but I only recently got around to watching TRON: Legacy. Now, I enjoyed the original movie - not my favourite, but a decent film - but this was just awful. I'm really glad I didn't pay for it - would have felt like a complete waste of money.

No plot to speak of, idiotic story, horribly generic dialogue and bland action. It kept promising to do something interesting but never quite got around to it, and suddenly the credits were rolling.

Was it just me, or does this reflect a common experience?

The action was okay and the soundtrack was really, really good.

The dialogue, story and characters on the other hand - terrible.

I really enjoyed it actually. The effects were cool, the story although slightly cliche'd was still interesting enough and the soundtrack was amazing.

I liked it.

But it did have ALOT of ground to recover when it came to dialogue. The actors were not especially bad actors, they just didnt have anything interesting to say.

The plot was full of holes too, but I didn't care too much. I guess I just walked in with the right attitude.

Visually and audibly fantastic, but was far too riddled with the stench of cliche to be remembered as anything else than a passable action/fantasy. Just like the Clash of the Titans remake.

...which I'm also glad not to have wasted money on...

I found the movie rather entertaining. That doesn't necessarily mean it's a good and meaningful movie, but it was visually appealing and pretty darn entertaining.

I absolutely loved that movie. There is nothing about it that I hated.

I actually liked it. You might want to make the thread title less confrontational. It seems like you could start a flame war with the current one.

I saw it twice and found it to be a decent action\adventure movie. I didn't go into it expecting some sort of profound thought provoking movie either and therefore wasn't let down by it.

True, perhaps it should have been a little less abrasive - although as it stands it certainly mirrors my feelings of disappointment after watching it.

I guess it didn't occur to me that a movie with so little substance could inspire the passionate support necessary for a flame war...

From what I've seen, it's very much a "love it or hate it" kind of movie. Personally, I fall into the former camp; I'm a huge fan of the original film, and thought Legacy did a great job of updating the technology and computing aspects while managing to keep in the spirit of the original. It's no masterpiece of modern filmmaking, no, but it's highly entertaining, and that's really all I ask of the movies I watch.

I hated the characters in both films. Just straight up loathed them. Could not identify with anyone in either film except Alan Bradley (in both films).

I did not feel TRON: Legacy was any worse than the original. The original wasn't that bad either.

Haven't seen the movie, but have bought the soundtrack to it.

No regrets from that decision.
