Trouble finding mega evolution stones in Pokemon XY

If this has topics been covered before I apologize but I didn't see anything I thought would help.
I currently play pokemon y and are looking for the various mega evolution stones. Sadly despite using a very complete pokemon site that lists where the items SHOULD be found I can't seem to find them. I've beaten the Elite Four, scoured the areas with the dowsing machine and am running ver. 1.1 of the game. Has anyone else run into this sort of thing. I'd hate it to be another bug but I can't seem to think of any other reason.

Did you already meet up with Sycamore in Anistar City after beating your rival on Kiloude Island (I probably spelled that wrong, I never go there)? I think that's a necessary step before you can find any of them.

If you've met Prof. Sycamore by the big sundial thingy, megastones will appear between 8-9pm in the places they're supposed to.

Participate in 1 battle at the Battle Maison in Kiloude City. Doesn't matter what format, just participate in at least one battle. Afterward, Calem/Serena will be at the northernmost part of Kiloude City, waiting to battle you(can be repeated once a day, if desired). After winning, Calem/Serena will tell you to go meet Professor Sycamore at the sundial in Anistar City. Meet with Professor Sycamore, he'll rant and he'll "upgrade" your Mega Ring.

After that point, Mega Stones will appear during 8-9pm, wherever they appear.
