Saw Beholder in the title and immediately imagined a game where you go around as a floating ball of eyestalks blasting everything with eye beams. Rather disappointed it is very much not anything like that.

OP's username: Alawar
OP's join date: very recent (yet, not today)
OP's post count: 1
OP's first thread: advertising a game
The game's publisher: Alawar Entertainment

...yeah, for some reason, I think this might be in conflict with the CoC.

If only he had made his username something else he would have gotten away with it. Unless he is just an avid fan. i wonder what would happen if i started talking about a new lufia game... hmmm.

That is a very silly rule imo , we can talk about games, just no games we had any hand in.

You've been here for a year and a half and have actively participated in the forums as well. You have earned it. Somebody dropping in only to advertise is extremely bad etiquette - it's disrespectful at best, otherwise it's blatant spam.

As long as you don't advertise them[footnote]which, again, is exactly what the OP does. It's the only thing it does.[/footnote] you can still discuss them.

Hi Chimpzy! Yes, "beholder" is usually referred to something else. But we did have reasons for naming the game this way. Probably if you give it a try, you may like it?

And "hello" to everybody
Think we should have started somehow different. I'll try once again :)
Yes, this is Alawar, not some strange dude, so we did not want to get away with it.
What we wanted to do, however, was to present our new game and to get feedback.

Weird thing, of course, to try and discuss a new game without naming it. We did not give links to purchase, nor did we ask to go and buy it 'cause it's awesome. So... hm... I assume, if Alawar says a single word about any of its games, it will be advertising.
Anyway, if you think that this is a spam ad, please, tell us and we'll try to improve.

We won't post another press-release looking texts, though.
Lt's try to make you curious about the game.

If you tried any of our games, we can say, that this new game is far from what we usually do. It's an experiment. It has no multiplayer, no dungeons, no clans. It's a story-based simulation.

What is it about? It's about moral choices. There's a guy living in a titalitarian state (out dev team is from Russia and somehow everyone assumes this game is about Russia, but it is not), the guy runs an apartment building and spies on the renters. Hidden camers, bugs, stuff like that. He receives directives from the State (new laws, prohibitions, an order to move some renter out, etc.)
Where's the moral part? It's hid a bit deeper in the game. When you'll have to make a decision - either to obey the State or to do what you believe is right. You cannot be totally free - it's a totalitarian state - and there will be pressure from the Government. But there are multiple options, and you can choose whatever you believe is right.
