Trying to look for second monitor.

I wanted to use the mini display ports but I can't find a thing on the net that would not be mac related. I'm trying to purchase a second monitor that can support this functionality or an adapter for it.

I would appreciate the help.

Mini Display Port is just a smaller form of Display Port - the monitor/TV just needs to support regular display port.

You'll need a Mini-DP to DP cable.

Not quite - the DisplayPort plug won't fit into a HDMI socket. If you are planning to get a monitor without a DisplayPort your best bet would be a Mini DisplayPort -> HDMI adapter cable [http://www.ebay.com/itm/330984165703].

okay cool, so even though it says for MAC it doesn't really have to be a MAC book.
