Okay just to get it out of my system

everyone knows about twilights bad taste in vampires

I want to know what YOUR idea of a REAL VAMPIRE is (real fictional vampire)

(and for a bonus what vampire/vampire hunter you would like to see kill Edward/Jacob... I personally want to see Alucard and Cornell kill them just because of how fitting it is)

EDIT: Oops, forgot; Alucard (see Castlevania) is my idea of a real vampire
...it's like Bram Stoker's Dracula only with powerful magic as well

do you mean alucard as in hellsing or castlevania?

and to answer the hellsing vampires.
Castlevania I didn't care for hellsing (then again I don't care for most anime, let alone almost all hard-core anime)

a good example is the 'Viral/parasitic' vampire, from 'The Strain'
when you read their origin in 'The Fall'... you can add another badass adjective to their name:
Radioactive :D

My idea of a vampire varies to what setting they are in. Sometimes can't go in people's houses without being invited. Sometimes they don't have reflections. Sometimes they can't touch crosses, and can only be killed by a stake in the heart. Sometimes they can turn into things like bats, wolves, and mist. Sometimes they can control the minds of weaker minded people.
In the end so long as they take some of these traits I'm fine. One thing I remember though is in Elders Scrolls 4: Oblivion, if you were a vampire and recently fed on blood, you can go out in day light. I don't really have a problem with it, partially.
Of course Twilight sucks, and I would want to see them all brutally slaughtered by Dracula himself, because even he would see them as abominations.

to each their own I guess. how much of hellsing did you see? I generally believe vampires are killers plain and simple and alucard of hellsing is a perfect example of that. one episode he rips off a swat team members head of and drinks from the stump thats left.

its messed up but is awesome at the same time

Vampires are killers. They'll drink your blood until your dry as a... Dry piece of wood!

However, all that garlic mumbo-jumbo, and driving a stake through their heart is bull. There's one way to kill a vampire, and it's called beheading.

And if Vlad the Impaler really was a vampire, I'd have him kill both of them. In the way he gained his nickname.

The vampires in Soul Reaver. They have real weaknesses that can be exploited to great effect, but through a system of evolution they are capable of overcoming them. The strongest vampires are like gods and refer to themselves as such.

My personal favourite portrayal of vampires has to be the ones in The Preacher (namely Cass), besides sunlight, most of the 'lore' surrounding Vampires is just a bunch of supersticious crap (he at one point notes that he used to go to a cafe where they put garlic on everything and that he loved it).

I think this is an interesting portrayal because it seems most like what I would call a 'reasonable' approach to vamparism (some of the lore is accurate, some of it is just bollocks and some of it is vague).

If faced with Edward from Twilight I get the feeling that Cass would smack him around the head, tell him to quit being such a bollicks and get the sod to stop acting like such a drama queen.

I think I like the Vampires of 'Let me in' and/or 'Let the right one in'. A lot of vampire movies can make me jump. Few (horror movies in general) make me feel uneasy all the way through, and give a damn about the people all the way through.

You know, the first Twilight movie wasn't all that terrible.
It was better than the book, but I didn't read/ watch all that much, so I can't say for sure.
My dad pointed out while we were watching the movie with my sister to make fun of it, that all of these people are actually so weird and spaced out, not because of it being an angsty drama, but that these people all have bad social skills, and may have something like Asperger's syndrome.
While yes, some parts of the movie were kinda stupid, I found that it was nowhere near as bad as the part of the book I read. Stupid sparkle vampires? Maybe. Bad acting? Just a little.
All in all, it wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen.

That might be a tie between the Star Wars Holiday Special and The Giant Shrews (that might not count, because it was an MST3K episode)

I like the Darren Shan type vampires, super speed is awesome.

As for my ideal Twilight slayer? Blade - gotta love a bit of Wesley Snipes.

Also, I recommend anyone here to watch Alex Day Reads Twilight on youtube, it gave me a few giggles.

I like the old Van Helsing/Bram Stoker type vampires, though the version from the House Of Night series of books seems pretty neat to me, and I like that series. The Blade 3 version of Dracula is a pretty good one too.
