I have read all 4 books seen both movies and i just cant seem to see the hook. I mean he sneaks into a girls room watches her sleep and she thinks that romantic. I'm fair sure if I did that it's restraining order material. And he "falls in love with her" because of her smell anyone else find that a little creepy you know "Bella, you smell purdy. mmmmmmm!"

Any opinions? or explanations?

Explanations? Stephanie Meyer is a depraved Mormon woman who managed to find a hook that draws in a huge demographic, which is simply naive young girls who think vampires are sexy and mysterious instead of the bloodsucking parasitic nostferatus they really are.

Opinions? It sucks. I've read all four books and the only thing keeping me from tearing my eyes out is the glim hope that the Twilight series becomes the book version of Ed Wood's films. ("My book may suck, but at least it's not as terrible as Twilight").

I have attempted to read Twilight, but there is nothing in there that catches my attention. I can barely remember a word I read. I can usually only say that about scientific papers.

Twilight does not inflict pain on me or make me want to vomit, but it doesn't do anything else to me either. I'd rather read something that will have an impact on me.

@ OP: Same reason MTV, hiphop, the Transformer movies, MWII and religion are successful. The idea that humans as a species, in general, are actually intelligent is laughable.

Vampires don't exist, so they can't "really be" anything... Just saying.

Its just a badly made movie thats been blown way out of proportion. That happens a lot in Hollywood. Read: The Simple Life, Hannah Montana, anything involving Shia LeBoof

We didn't deserve this punishment.

Bella look kind of nice I suppose, that's the only thing holding my interest, and it's not really 'holding' my interest, more like hanging it from a rope and then letting end, like a dead squirrel on the side of the road.

But I'm more mad at the Simpsons movie, for turning something brilliant into complete shittiness. Spiderpig is not funny

Twilight thread? Not again.

Twilight is not good, but fangirls love it. Just like video game franchises. Girls are flawed, like we are, let them be flawed

Let's see, based on my limited knowledge of the books--I'm apathetic about teenage fads being many years removed from that BS-- the stories are about nothing more than emotionally dry-humping beautiful boys who sparkle.

So, teenage/early 20's girls (and a few boys, I suppose) can have their fantasy relationships where everything is wonderful and romance-filled with juuuust the right amount of emo and angst.

And 20-ish college guys can get laid simply by saying "You know, I'm Team Edward/Taylor".

tl;dr: It's fluff. Safe, Mormon fluff.

*Note: I'm likely FOS. I really know nothing about these books. I really don't CARE to know anything about them. Vampires and werewolves aren't supposed to be romantic.

Say what you will, but I'd flex shirtless for 2 hours in a bad movie too if it made me that kind of money.

I don't get it. WHY did you read all three sequels to a book you don't like? I just sort of ignored twilight as a whole because I never thought that anything good would come from reading/watching it.

I spent a long time slagging it off because it sounded so lame. But then I realised how sad it was to have a go at it without reading it. So I did. All of it. Mostly because I get obsessive with books where I'll sit down for whole days until I finish a book doing nothing else. However it is one of those strangely addictive books, like the Potter books, where they aren't technically good, but have cocaine in the pages or something so you just can't stop. So while it is technically terrible (boring, repetitive, stupid) it is good to read for some unquantifiable reason (to me at least).

Can't say the same for the fucking awful movie. ROBERT PATTINSON HAS A FUCKING HUGE FOREHEAD! Nobody with properly functioning eyes could possibly find that attractive.

This is targeted at 12 year old girls.

If you don't fall into that group, don't expect to "get it".

Let them have their stupid books, and everyone who doesn't like it, Stay the fuck away from it and it'll go away.

I read the first one to see what the fuss was about. The writing is mediocre at best and the concept is nothing new, so my problem lies in the book's unfortunate implications, namely that stalking coupled with semi-abusive behvaiour is actually twu wuv.

That and the whole Lion and Lamb thing makes me want to vomit.
