Twitch acquired by Amazon

No idea what this could mean for twitch in the long run, possibly just an increase in funding and resources, but it will be interesting to see what they do with this.

I have to admit Twitch has become my recent addiction, and it and other streaming services seem to offer a great way to see games in action that you may never have heard of or to check out games you might enjoy before buying them and it's interesting, there doesn't seem to be many topics on these forums about games streaming, considering it's explosion of popularity over the last year.

So, speculation? Frustration? Commiseration? Disaffectation? Resignation?

What are your thoughts?

My immediate reaction, was great relief that it didn't turn out to be google that acquired them. Seriously, thank fuck for that.

Beyond that, I don't really have any thoughts as of yet. Amazon seems fine as far as companies go, and maybe with their resources they can make Twitch even better. But, who knows what other changes are in store.

All in all, I can only say I'm glad it wasn't Google that didn't end up acquiring them. But, I do want to see what comes next.

Amazon thus far has a pretty good track record of not messing up companies it buys so I think Twitch should be alright.
