So this looks like a nice friendly, and completely bit of utter Totalitarianism

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8020039.stm

yes it seems that while the plans to keep a total database of all of the UK's populations internet history and data failed thanks to some sane politicians this doesn't seem to have deterred the rest of them with a new system that is likely to go ahead which will allow the police and government to access what people view, and do on the internet. Is the government right to do this? Could it help stop terrorism and criminals? Is it just a load of crap to allow the government to control us in every way, your thoughts?

Big Brother strikes again.
A little bit more freedom is removed.
I'm not sure it's the way forward, but I don't know what I'd suggest in it's place.

I don't understand why the government insists on doing things that makes the public hate them. Yes, I know they want power and are suppressing rights and yadda yadda yadda, but for what end? What's the point? No one wants 1984. So why would they do something like this, then? That's the question one has to ask when dealing with cases like this.

I love how after WWII it was freedom for everyone! Democracy's the besterest!
Now it's 'but they MIGHT be doing something bad! Can't have that, now, can we.'

I'm extremely angry about this. It's merely an attempt to remove yet more freedom of privacy with naught but a laughable excuse.

hmm, I better tell all my anarchist, terroristic and paedophilic friends the jig is up then.

(I know two of those words don't exist but I like talking like Bush)

That song is amazing, Motorhead are amazing, Lemmy is amazing. The fact that Lemmy has been to my city, let alone went and got born there is amazing.

Nope, hes ingrained into the public's consciousness now. Hes a nice target as well, rather than trying to pin it on the many unknown people who actually caused much of the muck ups of his term.

On topic, well I would quite like to see them try. As it is, most forums that are private cannot be even accessed by the government without a written warrant to the provider. If its based in another country then they run into a whole score more of problems. All which gives people time to remove whatever 'harmful' material that was on the site.

I don't know why people are worried, the government can't even issue money to themselves properly
The chances that they'll be able to control us with these databases are minimul

agreed, ppl need either one or the other I think cause right now ppl and the goverment appear to be trying to get both, all they seem to be doing is wreking both options for all (thats how I veiw the situation anyway).
