Looking for games that feature characters making decisions that are either stupid or insane. For example, in Starcraft 2, Raynor knows and is reminded countless times that Tychus is hiding important information, from his real motives in joining Raynor's crusade, to the fact that someone Raynor knows nothing about for most of the game has his finger on the trigger of a gun pointed straight at Tychus' head, in the form of a suit he can't remove that's capable of killing him when a remote signal is received. Depsite this, Raynor trusts him implicitly, and never even brings up the suit's unique properties, or their implications, to Tychus. What other characters exhibit this type of stupidity?

I think Gordon Freeman would be the obvious choice, unless his MIT happens to include a 'crowbar the shit out of aliens and military forces' course.
I wouldn't say it were stupidity so much as very ballsy foolishness, but I don't think the typical reaction of a theoretical physicist to mass panic and death is to find a piece of hardware and clobber everything without the standard amount of eyes.
