Deus Ex: HR was a great game and Mankind Divided looks like they only improved it, but I see the internet no one cares about it nearly as much as they should as a gamer who like good games and I think that is sad since you guys are missing a lot so I've decided to make this thread to see if there are any other Deus ex fans who are exited for this game.

Now I know fallout 4 and BO3 were announced and people were really hyped for them but we can concentrate on more then one thing at a time, why limit yourself to a few games? One of the few complaints about HE were boss fights, energy system and combat not being appealing, the gameplay they reveled(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh-iX2bxOjI) showed they improved all those aspects have been improved and they raised the production value too so pretty graphics(DX12).

I think a lot of people didn't get into HR cause it takes some getting used to, you cant just go ahead shooting like a headless chicken, but once you get into the game and figure out various gameplay styles you make it really your own so the story has much more appeal then. Not to mention the augmentations, oh the augmentations. Anyway I didn't see nearly as many DX threads as there should be and I thought people were missing it. Are you excited for DX: Mankind Divided? Do you have any games that you personally enjoy but doesn't get as much public attention?

Honestly, I think it looks kinda... well, not crap exactly, but aggressively mediocre.

The stealth looks serviceable at best. No standout features of note, nothing that says, "I want to play this game over any other action-adventure-with-optional-stealth game", of which there isn't exactly a shortage.

The combat looks like garbage. I actually enjoy a bit of generic third-person cover-em-up every now and again, but the shooting in this appears to lack the punchy feel I look for in shooting mechanics.

Also, it's funny that you should mention that "you cant just go ahead shooting like a headless chicken" because it appears that they have added an armour augment that encourages you to do exactly that.

It's impossible to judge story from a brief isolated snippet. The dialogue on display is... well, I guess it'll do. I've seen worse. Although I feel the new Deus Ex games are being held back by trying to adhere to the plot of the original game. It's damned hard to take a game seriously when they are straight-facedly using the bloody Illuminati as villains. I snigger to myself every time Jensen grumbles out, "The Illuminati are behind this, grrrr".

Oh, and Jensen is still utterly failing to interest me in any way as a protagonist.

At least they've eased up on that ugly, monotonous colour scheme from the previous game.

Deus EX is make or brake on level design and other things they can't really demo inside of a stage show. I like Deus EX, but I am not following MD's advertising because I know new augs and flash won't really improve the game. I do have confidence in it though. HR was good. It was a DX game. They did it once, I think they can do it again.

I do like that they put the durability of things on the hud though. That was something I missed in HR.

My problem with Deus Ex HR is that everything except stealth seemed to be actively discouraged. So yeah, I got bored with it and quit playing. I would want to give it another go, but it seems like the Directors Cut version available on Steam is a buggy unoptimized piece of garbage and that the patched and confirmed playable original version has been removed from the service. So yeah... Nice going there Square Enix.

What, you're not a fan of yellow?

I agree though, the game was ugly to look at. All the details drowned out in a sea of yellow.

Well I guess it's not really your kind of game then, did you play HR? The illuminati thing is right, can't take it seriously but the titan shield they mentioned only makes you invincible for a short time they said they made ammo and energy infinite for the demo..

Well, for a colour scheme of yellow and black, they managed to get an awful lot of grey in there. Or yellow-tinged grey at least.

However, it wasn't so much the colour scheme itself as the fact that the entire game shared that scheme. Every area of every level. It was visually exhausting to look at. By the end of it I was just about ready to kill for a splash of green or red.

I don't think you understand me Deus Ex is my jam.. and jelly. I loved the first. I loved HR (with a qualifier). It's just not a game you can show well. You really have to get hands on with it in order to know, but I trust the team because they did HR.

Keep on preaching brother.

HR and MD seems to be trying be a self-commentary of modern capitalism/corporatism while DX1 and IW had ideals of objecvitism, each ideology had their pros and cons but ultimately the interest was for the stability of humanity. The antagonists made you fight for survival.

Well, I wanted to talk about that new Paper Mario/Mario & Luigi crossover thing, but nobody else seems interested.

Does Soma count as underdogs? I didn't realize they released a new trailer until I stumbled upon it in a related video.

Link: http://somagame.com/

For those who don't know about it, it's the next game by Frictional Studios, the guys behind Amnesia. The website has had me interested in it for quite a while, but unfortunately they hadn't updated it in about a year and a half, until this year's E3. The details are still pretty sparse on the game, but if you look in the files tab, the videos for Vivarium and Mockingbird are pretty neat

Mankind looks alright, I'll check it out more thoroughly in the future.

But hey, someone let Platinum games work on Transformers and well...

I AM SO HYPE

NO SHUT UP

DON'T RUIN THIS FOR ME

...yes I know their last licensed game with Activision, The Legend of Korra, was less than stellar but this genuinely looks like a fun beat em up with a style I can get behind, a group of characters I like, and a interesting set of combat mechanics.

Also it's the director behind Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance, Kenji Saito, is working on it so if you enjoy fun but involved combat and have a soul that's a plus.
