Uneeded Game Sequels

As time goes by, I'm finding the number of sequels coming out to be absurd, and it's inevitable that some are terrible.

Which sequels, either already released, or upcoming, do you guys think didn't need to be made, or that you thought was terrible?


For me, I'd have to say the new Wolfenstein. I mean really.. it could have gone so much better, but I apparently paid 65$ for an only semi-decent sci-fi nazi FPS.

Anything after Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Also, the .hack//G.U. series was pretty much a repeat of everything we already knew, just over done with terrible acting and character development

Pretty much anything after the first two Spyro games. And the Tekken series could just be called graphics updates now - the characters and backstories feel pretty empty now. LoZ is the most obvious one of unnecessary sequels.

Actually, that's something I'm surprised I didn't think of. Sonic should really just die off nowadays..

they wont. they cant really. they young little 8 year old fuckers are keeping him alive! and the parents (who probably grew up with sonic, which is sad) are too pussy-faced to say no to their annoying little whiney brats

FF-X2. FF-X had an interesting premise, quirky extras you could do (like the monster hunts and snagging the ultimate weapons for your characters), and a good music score.

FF-X2 was just...it. I can't describe how bad it was. Did they really need to milk the golden teat that much more?

I always feel that the third Pokemon of each generation (Platinum, Emerald... Crystal actually had some major improvements though, Yellow was shit) is a bit unnecessary I'd rather them put that effort into to just getting on with the new game.

ODST, since it was pretty much a 6 hour campaign with a new game mode *that didn't have matchmaking* and all the maps *which most everyone already had*.

That, and Guitar Hero 5.

I was waiting how long it'd take for someone to mention ODST... bonus points for mentioning GH too. Metallica? Van Halen? Band Hero? Come on, Red Octane...

Hmmm, I dunno... I thought it was pretty fun. It was a bit more fast-paced, and the battle system is definitely an improvement. Not to mention the mission structure works very well. I'd say I prefer it over FFX, but that's just me.

OT: Modern Warfare 2... Ugh...

I knew someone would say Final Fantasy. I can understand Hailene's comment about FFX-2 specifically (since I completely agree), but FF as a whole has little to no continuity. They are sequals in name only. Go ***** at a series that deserves it.

OT: COD4:MW came together so well, it didn't really need a sequel. Also, Guitar Hero's starting to get embarassing.

Bioshock 2 seems unnecessary. I mean, virtually everything I've seen about that game so far screams "needless cash-in."

I'll have to say... Red Faction 2. Sure, there were some quite fun bits, it was a good upgrade... But they removed most of the destructability. That, and it wasn't even on Mars, and the Red Faction in that game had NO links to the one on Mars. apart from that, it was really an ok game. they just pushed it away from what it was originally about.

I think Call of Duty 2, 3, and 5 were completely uneeded, especially since there were like 5 different versions of Call of Duty 1, which was basically Medal of Honor: Frontline. come to think of it all Call of Duty games, except 4, were uneeded. Far too many World War 2 games in my opinion, if you think about it pretty much everything that happened in that war has been made into a video game.

Unecessary sequels...Halo 2, any Guitar Hero, Any of the '...Movie' franchise, any of the modern Disney sequels...
