It could be for lack or time, interest, proper hardware or talent, but there are always those games that for some or other reason (or excuse) we just never got around to finish.
How many games have you started that are now sitting unfinished, and why?
From a considerable list that includes 15 titles (HL2 - Episode 2; Starcraft (yes, truly); Medieval Total War 2; Sam & Max - Season One; Gothic 3; amongst others), my saddest example is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl, because I really wanted to play it.
I waited eagerly for it since its supposed release in December of 2003 until finally it came out three long years later. And since then, the cosmos has conspired to prevent me from finishing it.
First I had a great video card that was unsupported by the game. Then my supply of free-time to play it was severely reduced. When I regained enthusiasm enough to continue I went through the mess of changing homes. Then of changing computers. Finally, after so many interruptions in the span of maybe a year, the inevitable slow and painful evaporation of that initial all-consuming interest in the game, set in.
Murphy's Law is a mighty opponent.
