Hi Escapists!

I've just started my first year studying Civil Engineering at university.
Problem is I dont know which books I need to read. So if any fellow students or people in the know could shout out which books are worth reading I'd be much obliged.

Thanks :)

Not a civil engineer, so this may be a special civil engineer situation but....the books your professor wants you to?

Generally in regards to university reading, I found that I either recieved an e-mailed reading list beforehand or a written handout several lectures into the module. If you've only just started then it might be best to wait, if you've been told to go out and find books of your own accord (kinda harsh!) then I'd just visit your Uni library and ask the people working there, they might have a better idea.

Usually each module will publish a reading list, but I always find the best way is to talk to the lecturer, they can usually advise on which one is best for what you want. I learn best by doing examples, so I always ask which one has the most worked examples in it.
