so i thought i would bring up this topic because there are a lot of unknown artists that deserve a whole lot more recognition. so im going to share my first two:

starting with staind, a metal\rock band with songs that seem to be categorize as grunge, though they have plenty more songs that are not even close.
one of their most known songs is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVQpfoqsY8Q
and one of my favorite songs by them is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYUWwNzyssU

ll let you liten to those and explore a bit if you enjoy them.

next artist; little V

alright so you guys may love this guy if you love rock\metal and video games
he covers mass effect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7q5PosDms4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AAHmB3_HXI

deus ex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liHq08Cayp4

and for all you dubstep fans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S07opnC0LA (my current favorite song, and i dont like dubstep all that much)

so these are two amaziing unknown artists, post yours in the comments

Staind isn't unknown by any means, it's just that it's not 2001 anymore.

Anyway, sure. Marnie Stern is a person who plays musical things. Her guitar style is 99% tapping, but it ends up more textural than Van Halen showiness and works well as a focal point of her music. Her voice is an acquired taste, but between her guitar and her equally hyperactive drummer, she makes some of the most frenetic and unique vaguely punkish rock songs around.

Well mine isn't a band and He isn't super unknown, but if you like rap music

Give Hopsin a look, he's easily the best rapper I've heard in a long time

Because I love them, I am going to plug Pandora Celtica [http://pandoraceltica.com/home.cfm] here. If you like a capella music with a somewhat dark twist, they're wonderful. I just got the email for their fourth CD, which I helped Kickstart about three months ago, and am listening to it now.

Kitchens of Distinction

A very underrated shoegazing band of the early 90's. Strange Free World is one of my favourite albums.

Yeah, I was going to say "unknown... Staind?" I'm actually in a radio station complex right now (I work here) and our pop station has 3 Staind songs in it's song library.

I'd have to go with The Drovers. Back in the 90's this Chicago local band had brief national recognition after being featured in the movie "Blink." I really dug their Celtic/grunge type of sound.

I wouldn't call Staind unknown, just forgotten.

I'm a big fan of dredg. I've been listening to them for so long, I really don't know what their popularity is like though.

This isn't even their best stuff, their earlier albums are just phenomenal.

Gaza is a band that I myself recently discovered. Real good blend of several metal sub-genres throughout their albums.

I'm glad someone posted one of these, gives me a chance to hype this band that I saw at Leeds Festival this weekend and really impressed me. Introducing, Cut Ribbons.

My friend showed me this really cool band a few weeks ago, they're called Pink Floyd and I don't think that many people have heard of them. I certainly hadn't. They're not great but worth a listen if you're bored, they do a pretty good cover of Ed Shearan, actually.

Don't hurt me

Ceremony[footnote]not to be confused with the hardcore punk band of the same name, or the dutch death metal band. Man there are a lot bands with this name.[/footnote] a two man modern shoegaze band.

Also McCarthy a british 80s indie pop band who wrote quite political songs. They later became better know as the electronic band Stereolab.
