So my brother has gotten involved in this thing called Usana and he keeps pressuring me to join up, I went to a meeting and in all honesty it just smelt fishy to me for some reason or another. My brother is still pressuring me to join up and every time I tell him no thank you he doesn't accept it, asking me questions like Don't you want to change your life and other such crap. What is your opinion on this company?

This firm is suspicious, at least that's what I see from its wiki page.
Run like the wind. Additionally ask your brother about his status in the firm and try to tell him that the probability of him being enslaved to the firm is rather high.
Google it for your own good. I just did. Multi-level marketing is usually a sign of 'legal' fraud, possibly bringing your brother into a state of legally being a slave, unless the firm forgot to put in that declaring bankruptcy does not allow you to drop their debts.

.
I don't know the details, but one thing is certain -
Get a Lawyer to look over the contract BEFORE you sign it.

Wow, fear-mongering just like a popular media channel. Grats! There is no way for any company to force you to work off a debt, and that is not what is implied by their business model. If you do not make the quota it just screws you out of the money you would have been paid, if you cannot pay what you bought you don't have to work for them, it'll sit until it gets paid by the person in question.

Use your reason.

I don't know the firm, but I offered some advice - use a lawyer to determine whether the terms of your contract are ok or not.
My sister got tangled in a similar affair and did go through some bad stuff, this is why I mistrust these kinds of companies.

The company model is intended to keep a large percentage of its associates in debt but not serfdom... Yea, your advice is sound and should be standard honestly but no need to cry "Slavery!" when that's not the case.

I perceive this as a form of legal slavery, I truly do. Being tied down to the firm until you pay your debts, all the while you need to be in more debt to pay them off... It's horrible.
Like I said earlier, I do not know this firm that this kind of system is suspicious.
Get a Lawyer!

Be skeptical. It's a multi-level marketing company. Those are always fishy and only very rarely does anyone make a good profit out of these schemes. It's not impossible to make a good career... but have you seen how many desperate, broke Amway salespeople there are? I've known several friends and relatives who have gotten themselves mixed up with these multi-level marketing companies and none of them have pleasant stories to tell.

It's also fundamentally screwed up - why should YOU be paying THEM to be THEIR salesperson? That's the wrong way around - THEY should pay YOU to marketing their products. That's how a proper job is supposed to work.

These multi-level marketing people are desperate and they really try to put the hard-sell on you to join because the only way they can leave without a mountain of debt is by recruiting others to join. Show your brother stats on AmWay and other Multi-level companies, and tell him that he should be very skeptical about any deal which involves him PAYING THEM for the privilege of working for them. Because that's screwed up.

Oh God, no.

I went to the best place to confirm my suspicions. YOUTUBE! Most thumbed up comments look like usanabots spitting the same bullshit over an over.

There was a dude who had to pay for the pills, stockpiled them and gave his email address, willing to sell his stockpile.

What the hell? I wouldn't trust people using sockpuppets to comment.

The United States Federal Trade Commission states "Steer clear of multilevel marketing plans that pay commissions for recruiting new distributors. They're actually illegal pyramid schemes. Why is pyramiding dangerous? Because plans that pay commissions for recruiting new distributors inevitably collapse when no new distributors can be recruited. And when a plan collapses, most people - except perhaps those at the very top of the pyramid - end up empty-handed."
Sounds ugly. Your brother is either having trouble getting referrals or there is actual money involved, so he is trying to pressure you in.
