Used game debate compromise: Why not TEMPORARILY lock games to the first console they're played on?

I have a solution to the conundrum of used games cannibalizing developer and publisher profits that will not stripe consumers of their right or rob them substantially of their surplus. The mechanism I would use harkens back to the humble CD key. For the first 3 months following the release of the game, require the owner to put in a code to play the game, and limit play only to the first console into which the code is inputted. Once the 3 month window expires, the game is unlocked and can work on any console, thus allowing for used sales once the developer and publisher has made the bulk of their profits.

Lol what will this change? I mean really . Do you think people who buy games used on Release won't wait 3 months to get a game EVEN CHEAPER than they do now? People that don't buy a game on day one at release price DON'T WANT TO buy a game at that price . Making them wait won't change that fact . Even then , people would be appauled by this practice , and might buy games even less . I mean it COULD WORK , but i can see this doing more harm than good .

Here is a better idea . Make a game that does take a day to finish OR make a game people will want to keep/ replay. There can only be used games if someone actually resells it . And what is to stop people from reselling a game anyways to take advantage to some poor sucker? Are we to calculate 3 months for every game that is released? A good way to piss everyone off .

How about this: Good economical conditions allow other businesses to pursue capitalistic ventures in order to create competition and growth in the industry.

This. Also, how about stores like GameStop give %10 or so of their profits to various devs and publishers.

I think one problem is if they made it for three months, eventually some company would lock it permanently and then other companies would follow suit

The second this system is established it will end up with perma lock on console.

So how about a solution that doesn't put a shotgun to the customers experience, because the main reason there quick resales happen is lack of content and who might be responsible for that...
