Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue is a damn good comic book.

Among other good things about the comic, the artwork in Vagabond is quite good. I think I might prefer it to Lone Wolf and Cub in terms of samurai related fiction.

I would concur. Not sure we're going to get a huge number of replies, but it's very well written and the artwork is excellent, yes.

Also it led me to read Takuan Soho's "The Unfettered Mind", which is probably the best book on Zen Buddhism I've ever read.
