Today I downloaded and installed the newest driver from the Nvidia website for my 8400 GS (not the greatest card, I know) version 196.21, and after restarting my computer, I noticed an incredible dive in the performance of the card in my games. The AvP demo (which did not have a great frame rate to begin with, but was easily playable), was now nigh on unplayable, as was Bioshock, a game which I had been able to play with 30+ fps if I turned down the resolution and textures slightly (for about 1-2 years now). Thinking that this was due to the new driver, I uninstalled the driver and then installed the version I had before, which was version 195.62. However, this did not fix the issue, with the games still being unplayable (note: When I say unplayable, I do not mean that the games refuses to boot up, but instead that the frame rate is so low that it is unplayable). Would any of my fellow Escapist's know what my problem is?
Edit: All games are at the exact same settings as they had been when I could easily play them.
