Your first and best step is to find out if the card will actually do what you want it to do. A 220 isn't all that powerful. You need to make sure it will run what you want it to run at least decently.

Once you do that, figure out if that specific manufacturer did a good job on their cards by reading reviews of them. Pretty simple to make your choice after that.

As for the price, I don't trust Best Buy one bit, you might get a deal on something discontinued, but that's about it. Look around online.

Also I'd recommend going with something like a 5770 if you want a cheap and dependable card.

By without problems, do you mean low settings, or high settings?

It's called lag (much like the lag you get during online gaming), and I've heard of people playing the unoptimized demo on high settings with a gtx 260m, so I would say look at getting a 250 or higher, although they aren't quite in the price range you quoted. It is coming out on consoles, so if the fellows at Crytek know what they're doing (and I'm pretty sure they do) it should be quite scalable in terms of resolution, render effects and overall performance, while still looking good.

Hmm.
Well, it depends entirely on your budget, since the difference in video card performance can be huge.

I'm with Sleekgiant on this one, however.
The Radeon HD 5770 has an extremely good price to performance ratio.

Enjoy your house fire :3(also fanboyism isn't going to make that low-tier card work any better.)

And to respond to the fact that you want to run Crysis, go with a Sapphire 5770

Seeing as you don't know which Geforce cards are good I think that's an incredibly ignorant position to be weighing the pros and cons of two separate companies cards.

There's nothing wrong with the new-ish nVidia cards ... i.e. the 400 and 500 series.

However, before this series, their cards were being smashed for price/performance ratio.
It wasn't even close.

If it's a budget gaming nVidia card you're looking at, perhaps the GTS 450 is for you.

5770 is an awesome card, runs Crysis maxed and has very few issues. If you ignore my good points and by an Nvidia then go ahead, its not my computer.

I had a 220GT. It was a good card, but you had to be careful with settings on new games. It also ran REALLY hot. I mean about 50+ degrees idle. Maybe it was just mine. Now I'm rocking a 460GTX that has more power and is a lot cooler.

Crysis 2's demo is a poorly optimised pile of shit and it still runs just fine with a wonderfully fluid frame rate on my GTX 260m.

But anyway, if it's a budget gaming card you're after, a GTS 450 is reasonably priced and it'll probably do ya fine for something like Crysis 2.

I can't seem to dig it up anywhere else, but do you know if that card supports Pixel Shaders 3.0?

Oh gawd yes. It doesn't just support Pixel Shaders 3.0, it supports pixel shaders 5.0
