Note: If anyone is interested in getting involved in this project in ways other than story writing (modeling, etc.) just PM me and I can give you the information you need.
Alright guys, bare with me here. This thread might get lengthy, as I'm going to have to explain quite a bit.
I've been itching to use my programming skills to make a video game mod for a while now, but to be honest, I don't really have any experience making video games.
A while back I downloaded something called the Dark Game Development Kit, and had forgotten about it. That is, until now. The kit contains everything you need to make a video game. Models, textures, sounds... whatever. I just need to supply the code.
But instead of just randomly programming characters to do things just for the heck of it, I thought a lengthy project might be just the thing I need to put my skills to the test. But to do this I need structure. And to get structure I need story.
And that is where you come in. Now, the game isn't a contest in the sense that I want people sweating like Olympians only to give me a story, and get no compensation (other than it being used in my game).
Its more of a... challenge in the sense that you're trying to write a story with certain limitations. For example the story can only use characters/objects that have models in the game.
Here is the list:
If you are going to write a story for me, please be aware that due to technical limitations, I may have to change things so they fit settings better (I don't know what kind of maps are in the game).
So if you're one of those people who take a lot of time and effort with their stories, and don't want me to go ruining it, I'd stay away if I were you.
I don't expect this to be a AAA story, so don't go making one if you don't want to. All I want is a story that abides by the model list, and has a beginning, middle, and end.
Oh, also anyone who actually starts to write a story it is VERY VERY IMPORTANT that you make a list of all of the things from that list that you include, except ammo, that is implied.
I personally suggest making a story that mainly revolves around humor. Of course... it isn't like you have much of a choice with constraints like these. If you wanted, you could even make it some sort of spoof off of your favorite game franchise. But most importantly, have fun with it!
