Voltron The Legendary Defender Season 2

I just binged the two seasons of the new Voltron cartoon in four days, and I have to say, it's pretty damn good.

I haven't seen this good voice acting and animation since Avatar. It's easy to draw so many similarities between the two, considering Voltron was essentially made by the same people who did Avatar. Easy to love characters, a good mix of comedy and seriousness, and smooth as fuck animation during action scenes. Even the CGI is good! All the huge robot vs huge aliens actually manages to be quite epic, which a lot of 3D cartoons have trouble achieving. As all shows should, Season 2 is a step up from Season 1. More mature themes and even more kickass action. It's not quite as good as Avatar yet, but it's certainly getting there.

My only problem so far is that I think they have done a poor job of expanding the universe. We saw, what, four or five planets? I was all excited when they hooked up with the Blades of Malmora and the tech planet. I thought they would gather an army to face Zarkon, but nope, they're just gonna face him head on. I didn't get either why they needed to teleport Zarkon's ship to another place, if all they were going to do is upload a virus and disable the ship anyway. Maybe I wasn't listening.

Anyway, overall I think it's a pretty good show. I'm a sucker for shows that throw normal people into a militarized organization (like Young Justice or Green Lanter. Or again, Avatar).

What do you guys think of the show? When do you think we'll get Season 3? It took a shockingly short amount of time to get the second season.

It's not bad. There's a bit too much filler for such a short series and the music is pretty terrible, but overall it's a reasonably watch.

I imagine there will be a season 3, but likely not until the end of the year at the earliest.

Ah, the music. I forgot about that. The intro is so boring because the music is practically non existent.

Aye, and what's there is incredibly weak. You'd think that at least Voltron's combination sequence would get a bit of an epic score, but no, it's some really tame, barely existent electronica. The kind you'd hear in the elevator of a generic computer store run by a guy named Doug.

It actually confuses me. I mean, what most people probably remember about the original series was the transformation scene. You'd think they'd put a little more effort into it
