Hi everyone,
I used to play Wakfu a long time ago, as I'm a sucker for turn based combat and I have to say that I really liked it. The things that made me stop playing were the lack of players and the subscription fee (not because of the price, bu because it would keep rejecting all the credit cars I used, no clue why).

Now they're making the international Wakfu F2P though and they've got me wondering - does anyone care about the game? It's pretty old, but they keep adding content and I've got to say that over the years the game has significantly improved.

The question is, do the non French people actually know anything about the game? I have a feeling that most have no clue and this makes me wonder... what's the point? I'm not French, but I lived in Luxembourg for a long time and one day just bumped into the game somehow. Don't even know how.

If you have no clue what the game is, here is the English website - http://www.wakfu.com/en/mmorpg

I though that I might also say what I liked about the game and what I didn't like...

Good stuff:
- I LOVE turn based combat. When waiting for your turn people talk, you have time to coordinate, combos, strategy, oh my! It was probably the best combat I've ever seen in an MMO. All the other ones feel like spamming skills and not really looking at other people. I'm also a strategy nerd though, so positioning and coordinating is my jam.
- All the classes! This game has probably the most original and coolest classes ever. No boring warrior, mage, monk stuff... You have a treasure hunter who can also transform into a weremole, a crazy suicidal tank maniac that gets stronger the more he gets hit, a steampunk robot that can build stuff during combat and use guns and stuff... all pretty cool. Even the healer class can be an alchemist and throw poisons at people instead. 15 unique classes. Not bad.
- Free builds. Every class has 3 elemental branches (with 5 spells each), 5 passives, 5 actives. Make fun builds or follow a tutorial, your call.
- I like the art style, but that's a matter of personal preference.
- Open world! Just do whatever you want to. No barriers, no meaningless quest lines.

Stuff I didn't like:
- A bit too much grind. Sometimes getting to the next level is simply a chore.
- PVP was meaningless, you would have people attack others and murder them just for fun. I'm not sure what it's like nowadays.
- Dungeons are freaking long and hard, almost impossible without a guild / good party. The drops are also rare and far between. (Unless you're the treasure hunter, then you get all the good stuff)
- No shops whatsoever! I know that it's post apocalyptic and you're supposed to drop, craft or trade, but sometimes getting the last part of your outfit could be so, so difficult.

Anyway, what do you think? Will the game plummet to death like other MMOs often do after going F2P? Will people like it for it's oldschool elements? Will nobody care?

I've been playing wakfu SEA which has been free for ages.
They only have a cash shop which sells mostly cosmetics, everything else is pretty much free.

I only know Wakfu thanks to the animated series.

I admit I kind of intrigued but the turn based battle and the limited character customization does put me off from playing it. Also if the F2P is gonna be like KOTOR and Spiral Knights and I am avoiding it (the game is difficult to played without resorting to spending real cash on stuff).
