Want Portal on Steam for free?

Well, it just so happens that I have free candy a free copy of Portal on Steam, ready to give to unsuspecting and unsupervised children one lucky Escapist community member! That's right, a FREE copy of the original Portal! Not that I had anything to do with it because I already own Portal

But I can't just give it away, now can I? That wouldn't be entertaining at all! Hmm, how can I make a giveaway fun? I guess I can turn it into a orgy contest of some kind!

The rules are simple. Want Portal? Draw a little picture or comic that demonstrates exactly how much you want Portal. Then upload it to some [http://imageshack.us/] hosting [http://tinypic.com/] site [http://lmgtfy.com/?q=free+image+hosting] and embed it here for all to mock admire! (Don't worry about your drawing skills, if anything you'll win points for irony, SBAHJ-style [http://www.mspaintadventures.com/sweetbroandhellajeff/].) But if you refuse to draw, a text submission will stand a chance if it's ridiculously awesome.

I'll pick a winner as soon as I get bored of waiting for submissions, and that person will get a copy of Portal transferred to their Steam account. (Obviously, I'll need to ask for the winner's Steam account, so wait a little while after you submit an entry so I have time to catch up with you if you won, unless you include your Steam ID in your post!)

Sorry, but I already got it for free when they did that Mac promotion thing. It's not a bad idea, but I recommend opening up the field to people who can't draw by allowing writing entries as well.

My imaginary quest for Portal:

I travel the land, searching far and wide for free copies of what many call the game to end all games. All men I know have seen and experienced the awesomeness, and, alas, I am denied the pleasure of it. One day, I stumbled upon a dark cave with the name "daltonlaffs" scrawled on the side of the entrance. I traveled carefully inside, and there, on a pedestal in a pool of magical light, was the treasure. I slowly approached it, snatched it, and ran as qickly as I could. I could hear some foul beast gaining on me, but I would not give up so easily. I ran as fast as humanly possible, and finally reached the entrance. I had done it, I had the fabled... Portal.

I think that's good enough. My steam account is in my profile.

Edit: I can add more dragons to the story if you want.

Sorry to tell you this, because it's probably going to trigger an "I'm old" moment, but we're a month shy of that being a year ago now. It's been a lot more than a couple of weeks.


OT: I've already got a copy, but I'm sure there's someone on the internet who plays games, has a PC that's up to spec, and wants but does not have a copy of Portal. I would have an extra copy myself, but Valve decided to be stingy when I bought The Orange Box, and not give me my duplicate copies of Portal and TF2. At least the price was right; if you add up all the money from the separate purchases, I got the entire Orange Box for right around $12, and the entire Half Life series, minus Halflife Source but with the bonus of Team Fortress Classic, for right around $10. What I'm saying here is, Steam sales rule.

Hey everyone, let's be dicks and point out that Valve already did this quite some time ago! Certainly everybody got it then!

There is no feasible way anyone could have missed it! It's not like Valve made 20 million dollars last year selling Portal on Steam. That'd be silly! No one needs to buy it, because it was free this one time for a couple days.
