Want to see Half life end?

Hopefully as i imagine most of us gamer will want, Valve will confirm a release date for Half Life 2 Episode 3. Again as i would have thought with most Half life fans they will want to find out what will happen to the cast and in which ways will we be able to kill zombies and headcrabs more creatively.

But will we want the series to end, or will we be happy to see a end before they can milk it for more games and therefore a weaker storyline.

What do you want to happen to the series, is it time to call it a day?

Yes. I want an ending where Gordon Freeman dies and so do all his friends, so nobody will be wanting a sequel and complaining about Valve taking forever to release it. Let Valve... I dunno, make a new IP?

Nah, I'd love to see the game go beyond Ep 3 if there's still some creative opportunity left. Story in first person shooters isn't a giant deal.

The trouble with Valve is, they don't have any real intellectual property besides Half Life, Left 4 Dead and Portal. Their other stuff is based off of mods. If they haven't found a good enough mod, then they don't really have many ideas.

I would like Ep3 to tie up the Hl2 story arc. But would like another adventur with Dr Freeman in another five or so years, something different, suitably epic.

Yeah, I'd like to see the series end, but in a good way, so it's forever left in memory as an example of how to do a game well. Then Valve can go work on another equally good IP.
