Does anybody know where I can get my hands on decent Red Spray Paint for W40k Minis in Ireland (or the UK to a lesser Extent)?

I'm goint to be REALLY helpful and say "no, I live in Norway".

Here we go:

No, I live in Norway.

Good luck to you in your spray-paint seeking quest, though.

I would suggest just using the spray gun that Games Workshop sells, although I think buying some red spray paint would be a bit cheaper.

Any miniatures red paint (provided it's water soluble) should be fine (+ dilution). I take it you don't live anywhere near a GW (that or you consider GW paints to be extortionate in price... which they are).

Any idea where I can find Spray paint for Minis though? GW has none and from what I can tell Army Painter doesn't ship to Irish hobby shops.

What part of ireland you in? Don't go to GW, whatever you do, they're pricks. Try art and hobby, or maybe to a lesser extent, a graffiti shop.

The Goddamn West. Last time I ordered a Termie Sorceror from Art and Hobby it took SIX MONTHS to show up.

All I can say, is that there are many websites devoted to mini painting; hitting up the escapist is sub-optimal. And many of those websites also offer links or actually distribute the items.

Oh come on. Stop being mean to the poor guy. Everyone knows that norway isn't a real place.

Hmmm, I'm not entirely sure what you're after there. What are you trying to do (Chapter colours/vet colours/highlights etc.), and I can give you a painting scheme, because I only ever use black spray paint for basecoating (occasionally white for my Death Company).

Nnnnn... I personally wouldn't recommend basecoating in red. Basecoat in black and then do foundation in red (brushing, but using the foundation paints which are pigment heavy compared to the normal paints) is the way you're supposed to do it, but I hate doing foundation coats, so I undercoat 3-4 times in dilute paint.

If you are going to non black/white basecoating by spraying, finding a suitable red spray might actually be quite hard. Get normal red paint for miniatures (at a art/hobby shop as per Spandexpanda's suggestion), the GW spraygun and propellant. Dilute the paint and away you go. It's expensive, but it'll get it done.

The method I just gave (with multiple undercoating) may be long-winded, but it brings out a sheen that's more receptive to highlighting. Basecoating directly in red can make it look sticky/shiny.

Hope that helps.

Wow, quite a coincidence this topic should pop up. I just finished reading this before coming to this thread...

Looks like I'll have to put off my Blood Angels and for awhile.
Oh, uh, sorry about that...
Meh, I've only started to collect anyway, I've heard Army Painter Sprays are good for basecoats, but I'll see If I can get them shipped over here though.

More time to get the Ciaphas Cain Novels though.

Oh yeah, the Ciaphas Cain books are absolutely hilarious, the greatest hero of the Imperium indeed!

Regarding the painting, well, it's really up to individual approach. For one thing, my Blood Angels are purple, and most consist of 12+ layers of paint... However, that's just me. My earlier miniatures were fine with the four or five (including basecoat) so in the end, it just depends on how seriously you take the hobbying side (all of my assault marines are conversions, so it's all about how mad you want to get).

Still, welcome to the hobby and thank you for your soul! Enjoy.

I find myself more interested in assembly/modelling than the painting. Though I have a few Ideas for paint schemes.
Thousand Sons painted in a more uniform style of the Red Corsairs.
