WAR is finished, minimum system requirements announced [http://news.mmosite.com/content/2008-07-30/20080730200029478.shtml]

Wtf? A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0????

Those are fairly low specs, and they should be. Ever play AoC? The entire reason why the end game doesn't work is because you physically can't get more than 24 players into an open area without everyone on the planet lagging out. That and the content simply isn't finished.

Want to know what I care about the most?

At least 15 GB of hard drive space

To me, this says "Hey look, we have a lot of content in our game without adding filler from 'good' graphics."

Or they have 'good' graphics that take up 5 gig of it... that is minimum spec after all...

Agreed. That really makes things look ultimately very promising.

I wouldn't even RUN Vista on the specs listed for this game. No way,... P4? Hah!

Well, at least they are adopting the Blizzard model, which is good. I highly doubt the 15Gb of HDD space, but ok. I can't believe the FX series cards, as well. That's... yah I can't believe anyone would still be using that to game except for older titles.

15GB is alittle much, but hey, if they produce one hell of a game ill still throw it on the old HD.

I have a five-year-old computer that meets the min. specs (not the one I'm using). 2.66 Ghz P4, 1 GB RAM, 128 MB Radeon 9800. Half-Life 2, KOTOR, and Guild Wars all look great and run fine on maximum settings.

And all three of those games look a lot nicer than the Warhammer Online screenshots we're seeing.

(Pixel shader 2.0 is an annoying way of saying "DirectX 9.")

Also agreed!
I am pretty stoked about this! I didn't think my aging PC would be able to handle it, but now it looks like I will be able to. Sweet!

Man, I know most minimum specs are the "bare minimum" but this seems like it's THE bare minimum.

Gotta love that they took out so much and still recommend 15 gigs.

I fuckin' love this-- I was actually sort of worried that I would have to upgrade my computer. I could care less about an MMO's graphics.

Ughhh, so what you're saying is that the "budget" for Warhammer is on par with the budget for WoW? WONDERFUL >:|

Not true, as shader 3.0 is also DX9.
Yes, but shader 2.0 is still DX9, yes? -_-

All shader 2.0's are DX9, but not all DX9's are shader 2.0's. You see the logic here?

Nice. As long as I upgrade my processor (2.4 GHz), I should have no problem running it. Good to see that they chose gameplay over graphics anyhow.

And that's a bad thing?
Umm, no? I was just commenting that they picked an annoying way to refer to it that most people wouldn't immediately understand.

However...

Games Workshop is nobody's lackey (unlike Bungie) and their goal is to release a game saleable to as many potential users as possible.
Knowing their M.O., I'd say that their goal is to make the most money, which is subtly different from selling to the most potential users.
