Hey fellow Escapists! There were a lot of good games that I enjoyed for my PS2 as you probably did as well. One of these games was the Kingdom Hearts series. I played and beat both games. I just wanted to know, what is the extended plot of the series and if you dont feel like explaining it all, please provide a link. No Wikipedia! It doesnt explain it well.
Easy. Okay, some stuff happened before Kingdom Hearts. I own Birth By Sleep, but have yet to play it, so I can't fill in the details, but it apparently offers backstory on the Keyblades and members from Organization XIII. Kairi is also in it as a child.
Kingdom Hearts takes place. Since you played the game, I'll skip it.
Chain of Memories takes place immediately after Kingdom Hearts. Sora get trapped in Castle Oblivion along with Donald and Goofy. There, they meet Axel and several other members of XIII, along with Namine. Namine rewrites Sora's memories using her magic in order to make Sora think Namine was his childhood friend, not Kairi. This is revealed to be a plot to twist the Keyblade user (Sora) to XIII's will, but not all of them. Several members have broken off and formed their own splinter group. They are lead by Marluxia, and he wants to overthrow Xenmas and run XIII. However, Axel is sent in as a double agent, and indirectly helps Sora eliminate all of the traitors to The Organization. Sora's story ends with him finally meeting Namine and she tells him the truth. In order to restore his memories, he, Donald and Goofy need to sleep while she relinks the "Chain of Memories" in his heart. See what they did there?
Meanwhile, Riku stumbles into Castle Oblivion and has his own adventure there, killing other members of XIII and finally meeting DiZ. DiZ explains what is happening to Sora, and that they must save Sora if they are to save the world. In order to do that, they must get Roxas, Sora's Nobody.
Okay, jump back in time. When Sora gets turned into a Heartless in KH, Roxas is born, since a Nobody is born when a Heartless is born of a strong person. The Organization immediately takes Roxas under its wing, hoping to have the Keyblade user on their side. He is, after all, Sora, which is why he can use the Keyblade. Roxas spends just under a year with The Organization, which is detailed in 358/2 Days. While there, he befriends Axel and the two make it a ritual to meet at the top of the clock in Twilight Town after every mission to eat Sea Salt ice cream. A new member also joins during Roxas' time, a girl named Xion (that's She-on, no Zion. Weird, if you ask me.) After first, she doesn't talk or remove her hood, but after following Roxas on several missions, she finally speaks and removes her hood. She looks like Kairi's nobody. This is odd, as Kairi is never turned into a Heartless. It is later revealed that Xion can use the Keyblade as well, but Roxas seems to be loosing his power. Finally, it is revealed what Xion's true purpose is: She is a doll, created so that XIII could have a backup in case Roxas failed them. Her image reflects whatever the person looking at her believes he's seeing. Roxas and Axel she Xion, Saix sees a hooded doll, and Xigbar sees the hero from Birth By Sleep. She also feeds off of Roxas, stealing his energy, power, and she will eventually steal his life. Xion doesn't want to do this, as she's grown fond of Roxas and Axel, so she runs away to find a solution. There, she meets Riku and DiZ, and they explain that, in order to save Roxas, he must be reunited with Sora. However, Roxas must have all his strength back, which means Xion needs to die and "be forgotten". She will fade from everyone's memories. Xion agrees, and tricks Roxas into fighting her. She dies with a smile, knowing she saved Roxas' life. Enraged, Roxas leaves XIII in order to find a way to bring Xion back--this is that cutscene in KH2 where Roxas says no one will miss him, and Axel says he would. Riku ambushes Roxas--the bonus ending in KH--and the two fight. At first, Roxas stomps Riku, but when Riku starts to make him doubt himself--Roxas can no longer remember Xion's name or face, only that they eat ice cream together and he must save her--Riku gets the upper hand, with indirect help from Xion, who apparently is still alive in spirit. Riku captures Roxas and the game ends with Roxas waking up in on his first day in Twilight Town. KH2 takes place from there. Once again, since you played it, I'll skip it.
Ouch. My hands feel like they are going to fall off. I wonder how many posts are up before this one? There were only two when I started. Hope it helps.
