Was I the only person who liked the combat in Final Fantasy XIII?

I was just reading online and saw a bunch of people bashing the
mechanic for fighting in FF13. I would like to say that I really enjoyed
the new system, the Auto Assign was extremely helpful in a
pinch when I really needed to focus on my paradigm combinations.
All of the fights also had amazing music by the way :D
Did any of you have any opinions?

You may not be the only one, I will admit

I loathed it. I also hated how I was stuck with one dude doing the action while the others did their own thing. I think FFX had a MUCH better system.

It was one of the reasons I quit the game.

I loved the fighting, infact I loved the whole game apart from a chapter near the end which was a blatant excuse to lengthen the game by making you grind a damn lot. In a game with such a fantastic story that was the main driving force behind it, removing all pacing and replacing it with just combat was dull and ruined the end a bit for me, I loved the combat but it was the story that was the main show of the game.

The only thing I liked about the combat system in FFXIII was the Paradigm system. Everything else (even outside of combat) felt like the game loathed me for thinking that I should be able to actually control something when the AI could do it so much faster.
EDIT: And more stylishly. Why do the characters get to run, jump, and fly around during cutscenes while all I get to do is run down linear hallways and click little buttons in menus? If Devil May Cry and God of War have taught us anything, it's that in-game combat CAN be pretty cool.
Extra EDIT because I never know when to stop: For the record, I even liked the combat in Final Fantasy XII (a game that I sunk over 110 hours into), and I really tried to like FFXIII, but in the end it just felt like the game didn't want me to play it and I gave up after 12 hours.

I'm tempted to simply leave 'Yes' as an answer but that would get me suspended.
I hated 13. So closed, in every sense of the word. My biggest beef was with the story but I could have easily still gotten through the game if the combat had been more interesting.
The odd part is I absolutely LOVE the combat in Last Remnant which was probably just as if not more automated.

It wasn't horrible, but I've played better battle systems before.

Getting an instant game over if your lead character goes down in combat was a fucking stupid decision, though.

I hated the system, but I understood why they had it the way they did. It did allow you to focus more on overall battle and not worry so much about just smashing away at an enemy. I can see the appeal, just not my thing. I just wish there was more to do in the game.

That's where I"m at, I got tired and felt the same way, its like Square is just laughing at you while you run to the next cut scene, to the next battle where you barely do any gameplay, to the next cut scene, then the game never ends.

I gave up and played Bayonetta instead for a while...that satisfied my gaming needs...maybe I'll go back and actually complete FF13

I liked it, I just felt it was unpolished. It should've taken more from 12's single-protagonist-plus-2-npcs combat.

I hated the combat system.

I hated the characters.

I hated walking down one linear corridor for the entire fucking game.

I hated that game quite a bit.

I adored the combat system so much that it made up for the shit story to such a degree that it instantly propelled it to the title of my favorite Final Fantasy ever.

Even if Sazh sucked until Post-Game, when he made a decent Sentinel/SYN/RAV.
