had some issues when i upgraded my computer to water. i tock my 5970 air cooler off and water on with no issue, the cpu heatsink was ok tubing..... when i pored the liquid in and with the bridging tool on the 24 pin and i continued to poar it in until the level went to max i looked inside i i found that the barb which allowed the liquid into the cpu heatsink and it leaking onto my mobo and ram. i immediately killed the power and removed the ram and placed them onto a towel i may have placed them in the wrong order put them back in gave it 5 hours fixed the leak and turned it on. it worked and found that the sound card driver wasn't working so i went onto google and downloaded it ([a]http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/OTHER-SOUNDCARDS/Asus-SoundMax-AD1986A-64bit-Audio-Driver-V510024153.shtml[/a] dont click on it (64bit) and about 1/10th into it and my computer turned it self off immediately and i turn it back on and then it it turned off then back on. nothing came on the screen and continues to be but the computer remains on. so basicly i turn it on nothing comes on the screen. if it is a virus what do i do if it is wet ram what do i do.

PS. the liquid was PrimoChill PURE Performance Coolant

It's not a virus. If nothing is showing up, your mobo is probably fried or still too wet. The boot is passing POST stage (power-on self test), so that's why it's running; however, if nothing is showing up, your BIOS is gone.

I'd advise you to try drying everything out more; the circuitry can trap liquid pretty well. Don't use a heating device, no matter what you do, because you'll probably just cause more damage. I'd say the safest thing you can do right now is clean up any liquid you find and wait.

No bios= No virus. Sounds like you've either damaged your RAM sockets, soaked the board or the RAM or just plain put it back together wrong.

all back together fairly well the ram sockets are clear of any liquid i can't see any signs of liquid and the ram is dry and clearing the cmos does nothing

ok its on and working now it is saying "reboot and select proper boot devise" will this have something to do with me unplugging my sata cables and putting them back in different positions?

Yes if the SATA port is turned off. usually on motherboards there is SATA0 SATA1 and so on.

sounds like you fried your mobo

remember kids electricity mixed with an electrically conductive substance and electronics means the electronics no longer works.

really for liquid cooling, they need to bring out some non-conductive liquids, it would make life that much better. that and it's really cool to watch a tv turn on while submerged in a liquid

surly it carn't be that i must have just put the sata cables in the wrong port, right? (enter panic voice here)

If its asking you to select a boot device you ought to look in your BIOS and see which hard disk is current bootable. If you have accidentally switched SATA cables they will be in the wrong order. The default bootable SATA channel is SATA 0 so that is the one you want the HD with your OS in.

If you ever spill liquids on you gear again try sticking it in a sealable bag with some rice gains in somewhere warm for a few hours.

I have a question. If the link is supposedly malicious, then why did you post it?

You powered on your system before leak testing? *facepalm*

We don't need better materials. The problem is user error. Next time you set up watercooling jump your 24-pin connector with nothing connected, and leak test for 12 hours.

And if anyone finds a readily-available, non-conductive liquid with a specific heat as high as water, let me know.

All those saying that the water cooling liquid you used has fried your mobo, you ARE aware that pretty much every big name water cooling fluid is comprised of either a low or non conductive fluid, i.e it is designed so that if it is spilled you can safely power down without it causing damage or it simply doesn't conduct electrical current at all.

Chances are if you were going to do damage it would come from trying to dry the components out in correctly, i.e instead of letting them dry over time you have tried to forcefully dry the components using towels or some other material that could cause the build up of static whilst drying.

As for the issue with the boot device, again that's quite a simple thing to fix. I dunno about your mobo but my one has 6 sata ports labelled 1 - 6. The computer will always try to boot from the lowest sata port. So if your boot drive is plugged in to port 1, then you remove it and plug it in to port 2 it will reconfigure on reboot to use that instead.

Unplug ALL your Sata cables apart from the one for your boot device, plug your boot device cable in to your lowest numbered Sata port, the mobo may have it printed on it otherwise it will be in the mobo handbook. Then reboot with ONLY the boot drive plugged in.

And if anyone finds a readily-available, non-conductive liquid with a specific heat as high as water, let me know.

Oh and water IS a non conductive / low conductive, it's the impurities in the water that means it conducts electricity.

If you cant access your BIOS then I have no idea whats going on! You could try reinstalling your BIOS but I have no idea if that will help.
