I have been told that there are repair kits available on Ebay for around 40 Australian dollars that can fix a Red Ring of Death on a 360. Has anyone else heard about this?

If it's still under warranty I wouldn't risk it. Just send it in, it's free after all. If not, go for it. Can't hurt right?

If its under warranty dont mess with it. Ive fixed mine, but it was out of warranty. Also the 3 red rings only indicate a hardware failiure, the causes could be numerous, so there could be numerous reasons why it failed. If your TV screen pixelated and froze when it crashed you have a GPU failiure or if it just wont boot up it could be a CPU failiure. In order to fix it you have to treat all the sources (most often problems with overheating), and if you dont know how, well, you're kinda boned.

Do NOT buy those so called "kits". Just search around google and you'll find free guides. I know you'll need screwdrivers, certain types of washers and a certain type of "glue" to fix a red ring from one of the guides I've seen.

PS: Incase you don't know what a washer is, here's a picture.

Apparently wrapping the Xbox360 in a towel can make it work. I mean I have no idea why that would work but apparently it does.

The reason why I won't buy a 360. I want Gears of War 2 but the risk is too great. :(

I wouldn't use any 'home-made' remedies or repair kits that aren't made by Microsoft, if I were you. The only thing that saved my Xbox when it got Red-Ringed was sending it into Microsoft and waiting a week or two. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but I think that's your best chance. Good luck.
