Hey all,

I've been playing Assassin's Creed lately and with the new one coming out soon that's supposed to be the last one of the Ezio games the thought strikes me that it'd be nice if one of the next games has a lady assassin whose memories we live out. We're always talking about good female characters, and I think there's pretty good historical precedent for female assassins, I think it could be pretty good. I don't know if the plan is to go straight to Desmond the assassin next or if they really are planning on doing some more historical pieces, but I've heard they'd like to do one in the American or French revolution so there's still room for Lady Aigle the assassin, ¿right?

That is an excellent idea. Although being a male character living through a female's memories brings up certain complications I dont want to get in to. Picture that bathtub scene near the beginning of Brotherhood in reverse.

I Think its a great idea, and why not have Desmond experience that, it would bring up great character development. How he deals with the thoughts and experiences of this girl assassin would be an eye opener for him and for those playing about really what things are like.

I definitely like that idea. That would get me to pick up a copy of the next AC. I lost interest halfway through the second game. No one could compare to Altair.

Totally agree. I also really want the setting to be the French Revolution...

Wait a second... Jean-Paul Marat was famously assassinated in his bathtub by Charlotte Corday, a woman... I SMELL A HIGH-PROFILE TARGET!

Also, as previously stated, Desmond in female memories would have the chance to be great and/or hilarious!

Yeah but not as Lady Corday, she was a dumb *****.
"Peace now that he is dead"? Yeah, that worked out REAL well.
Yea, not necessarily AS her. I'm just saying that the assassination of Marat, through some slight conspiracy-laden rewriting of history (Corday chooses to take the blame for the murder because she wants to preach her cause to all of France from the stage of the court and the guillotine, or something like that) could easily be a high-profile assignment for our lady assassin.

As much as I'd like to be a Lady Assassin, there are some immediate problem areas I foresee.

1) Women don't have as much freedom of movement through society as men do for the greater portion of history over the majority of cultures. ... unless you're one of "those" women, and I really do not want a "seductress assassin, because you're a lady" angle.

2) Period clothing that would be blending in is not conducive to climbing and jumping off of buildings in any era or culture I can readily come up with at this moment.

3) Already mentioned, but male reliving female memories might bring up some pretty heavy topics that the series might want to avoid getting entangled in for practical reasons.

4) The primary role of female assassins of note thus far in the series (barring the random folks you recruit) has tended toward the information gathering / book keeping end of the business, and that doesn't sound like appealing gameplay to me.

Not really needed. Like Mylinkay said, their is just a few things that would be....odd about Desmond being a girl.

Not to mention fan-fic writers would have a complete hay-day with the women assassin in question and altair/ezio cross-overs with some morally-questionable content.

Don't they usually stick Desmond's face on the assassin he's living as? I wonder how that would work.

Not anymore. The faces were the same for Altair/Desmond in the original Assassin's Creed, but there are differences between Ezio and Desmond in the other games, and I think they are also ret-conning the Altair/Desmond sameness for Revelations.

I've seen a interview were a Ubisoft employee has said that they've heard this suggestion, that they're not against it either. Apparently all of Desmond's storyline is worked out, it's the ancestors that they are playing around with now. I'll try and find a source.

EDIT: I found the source! http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/assassins_creed_revelations/news/fans_would_accept_female_assassins_creed_protagonist.html

And another one:
http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/assassins_creed_revelations/news/the_future_of_assassins_creed_explored.html

Both touch on this question.

Huh. I'm gonna say the thing I usually say when this sort of concept rears it's silly head. We don't NEED female *assassin* *space marine* *gta protagonist* *insert whatever*. What we should be asking for is a well crafted and interesting character. We shouldn't be hunting for a female lead just for the sake of a female lead or gender balancing or whatever. If they can craft a solid, interesting character for their games, be it male or female, then good on them, but I DO NOT WANT Ubisoft hearing fans clamouring for a female protagonist, then trying to pander to them by making one at the expense of storytelling or depth.

And listen here Ubisoft, if you DO decide to create a complex, well crafted female lead for your game (who is meant to be athletic to an extreme level), please, for all our sakes, do not give her giant jubblies. Have her do something realistic, like strapping her chest so it doesn't impede her running or climbing ability.

That is all.

Rule 63, for any male character there is a female version.

Shouldn't be that hard to feminize Desmond's face. It would still look kind of weird though.

I always thourght it would be kind of interesting to replace the charachter of desmond with a chick...the "weirdness" of living out male assasins could just be played for laughs, I dont see it as any major obsticle
