So, my dear Escapists, I'm sure at some point you've all had a weird or disturbing dream. Something that has either physically shaken you upon waking up or has left you wondering what was happening.

To give a quick explanation; I remember this dream vividly. Even though it was a few months ago it occurred. Whilst I knew it was a dream, it felt real. As if I was there. That is one of the parts which freaked me out more than anything. Then, just yesterday I had the same dream, yet in the aftermath of what happened before. I even remember the other dream, the actions and even to what the other people said before.

Now, to save a few of you the trouble of reading ( I know! Words?! Pfft...who needs them! ) I'll spoiler it, so you can skip it if you wish. For those that don't wish to discuss and maybe enlighten me on this particular dream, share yours!

It started off with me and a few other people walking along a country road, we discovered a drain, partially open. Next to it, a large yellow switch lay. We opened the drain and seen it was filled with water, yet there was light coming from under it. I pressed the large yellow button and slowly, the water drained. It took what I estimate to be five minutes ( Dream time is weird ) to empty. We then went down. Inside was a perfect room. Carpets, chairs, lights, just like a waiting room. Walking into it, it felt cold. I walked out into the corridor and walked along it, with the others.

This place was empty and massive. A huge underground complex. It seemed to resemble parts of my college, school, houses I used to live in and places I've been too. The drain lid sealed behind us and after trying to re-open it, we found we couldn't. So, without knowing how, I thought the store room, at the very bottom of the complex would hold the button to open it. We wandered around the area and it just felt weird. Like it was wrong. Genuinely wrong. We made our way to what seemed to be a dining hall ( Familiar to my School, but much larger ) and walking through it, kind of reminded me of the Langoliers film. ( Google it ) It was empty, yet there were cups, plates and stuff just there, like it had only just been put out. We kept going and that's when the first thing happened.

One of the people with us, a boy, roughly sixteen or seventeen seen someone. Someone he knew. ( Details are hazy on this, There are a few things I can't remember. ) He walked to her and I instantly got this cold feeling, this feeling of dread. The group called to him, the smaller child even tried to move forwards but got pushed back. The boy disappeared around a corner. The other people, decided to continue on. So we went out into another corridor, this looked like a school hallway, lockers, classrooms branching off, the whole lot. Yet it was silent. The kind of silence that comes unnaturally. We crept through it and again, a boy in our group saw someone he knew, one of his parents. He walked towards the parent and again, I felt this spine tingling sensation that it was wrong. Just pure wrong. The boy got close this time and we watched. The parent made the most unnatural movement with it's jaw, like it was broken, it opened so far and the eye sockets turned the deepest black. Then it bit him. We screamed. I felt my actual body scream. We ran and Me and a girl ran through a back door, whilst the little kid got split.

I remember the girls name, Hazel. Brunette hair, hazel brown Eye's and a somewhat sharp, yet pretty face and slightly tanned. ( The memory of her is so vivid I can actually picture her from memory ) We crept along the corridors, peering through the classroom windows and something followed us. This feeling. - Going off-topic, Y'know when you genuinely feel sick, like something is so wrong you just want to run, hide and get away. Every instinct in your body is yelling, screaming at you that somethings wrong, well that's what I felt like. - Every window the girl looked in she panicked, frightened that she would see something she knew. I was the same. We heard a scream from above, several floors. A shrill, cold piercing scream and I honestly nearly froze up. We made it through the hallways and found the "storage room" door.

I was hesitant to touch it, I just wanted to wake up because for the first in my life ( Dream life? ) I was truly scared, as in terrified. We opened it and went inside. It was an open room. Yet filled with the kind of railings and stairways you'd see in an engine room or an oil rig. With doors and other junctions disappearing off. As we walked down, the girl screamed and I saw it, this black shadow was on the walkway opposite us and it looked at her. It screamed, like a Banshee, it went straight through us. Looking down, we saw the button. A big red button that would open the hatch. So we ran. We raced along the walkways and with the shadow in chase got to the button, we pressed it together and it rang. Like a lunch bell, except louder, much louder. Then I saw mine. ( I'm not saying what it is because even thinking about it makes my hairs stand on end. ) I fucking ran. Faster than ever. Holding the Girls hand, we sprinted up the walkways, locking the doors behind us.

Upon exiting the storage room, we saw the little girl. Someone, her gran I think was chewing on her. Bowed over her neck. The door behind us banged and we ran, through a sports hall. exited it and made our way to the exit. ( How I knew where it was, I don't know ) We got to the last part and found the exit room, drain now open. I turned to push the girl in-front to go up first and there, face to face with me was mine. I screamed, squared away a punch ( Not out of bravdo or courage, but out of mind numbing fear ) and heard the girl ( Hazel ) scream. I ran, jumped up the ladder and kicked the drain on top. It span and locked.

And that's when I woke up.

I was sweating, I was cold and my heart rate was sky high. I switched the lights on and stuck my laptop and xbox on, for something to do and stayed up the rest of the night.

What's scared the shit out of me more than anything was last night, I went back. I knew what happened last time, I remembered the people what they looked like and what happened. then one of the people in my group ( again, five or six people ) pressed the yellow button. I couldn't go down. I sat up on the country road and watched as the drain slid shut and locked. I sat there for the whole dream. I have no idea how long I sat there for ( it felt real again, I was sitting on a lonely country road for what seemed like eight hours ) but the drain didn't open. And I woke up sometime after.

Now, I'm not sure if it's stupid of me, but I don't want to go back to sleep tonight because I can not tell you how "wrong" that dream felt and just how much I'm actually scared of "mine".

So, discuss...Am I just strange or has this happened to you too?

Indeed. Sometimes however, this doesn't work. As was demonstrated with me.

Psh, I do that even when I don't dream.
If my subconscious even thinks about being a pussy, I will kick the shit out of it to put it in it's place. Its gotten to the point where I don't even dream anymore, my eyes just roll back and stare at my brain until it gets the fuck to sleep.

My dreams are too fast. Its more like watching a movie in fast forward for me, I can't do anything in them of my own will.
This was one of the few dreams I've had where it felt like I was there. I could control what I was doing and interact with the world. I don't how to express just how honestly creeped out I was.

I had a dream that I was being watched by a black smoke cloud hovering in the corner of my room.

I had a dream where I witnessed something absolutely horrific and almost vomited upon waking up.

Don't want to talk about that one.

Though there was another where I was being chased relentlessly by some people, I didn't know what they wanted but it definitely wouldn't have been good.

I don't really dream, and when I do they're lucid dreams.

By not dreaming, I mean I fall asleep then wake up. Nothing in the middle, nor a feeling as if something was there that I used to get when I feel like I'm forgetting a dream.

Don't worry, I have fucked up dreams like that too. Perhaps not quite as bad. While reading your dream, I was listening to the Diabeetus rap and it still freaked me out. And I don't blame you for not wanting to go to sleep, I wouldn't either. If you could, always try and remember it's a dream. That helps me wake up from a nightmare sometimes.

I knew it was a dream, I tried to wake myself up, but as I said I knew from the moment that drain shut, I would have to open it and get out to wake up. It was an instinctual feeling. What made it even worse was my memory of the people. Being able to recall them as if I had known them for years was, weird at best and scary at worst.

I had a dream that I was the head of advertising at a toaster company, and I had just approved of the slogan, "Hewlett and Sherbert's Toasters: They make your fish smell brighter."

In another dream, my computer got a virus. The virus made no effort to conceal or disguise itself as a harmless or important/beneficial program, and called/listed itself as "Frog." "Frog" had a personality, and would send me popups suggesting me to delete a file or download a link off of a specific site. The options were always "Sure" and "No way," With each popup, it became more and more demanding, and less and less suggestive, until the point that it was making threats. As the popups appeared faster and faster, I raced against time to kill the malicious process. I finally managed to open the task manager just as the virus threatened to delete all of my contacts and word documents if I didn't add one "Kylie Boobs" to my friends list on Facebook. I successfully killed the malicious process, labeled "FrogVirus.exe," but after a good deal of searching was unable to locate the infected file. I went online, and found no information on the virus. After doing a full antivirus search, I found nothing, and determined that I had been visited by a ghost process. Then I woke up.

I dunno. Waking up sort of solved the problem.

Wait, was that sarcasm?
