Nobody here is a stranger to their share of bad films/TV shows/games. It's kind of inevitable that people will witness a load of awful media in their lifetime. But whenever I really think about a film, or a game, or a TV show being awful, a significant portion of my thinking goes to the soundtrack, like the wannabe music nerd that I try so hard to be.

And it often transpires that, in my eyes at least, certain things can in fact be partially redeemed by an amazing soundtrack. And I hear this same thing said by people all the time. "That film was crap, but the music was pretty good."

So ITT we share our opinions of horrible films, or horrible TV shows, or horrible games, that have been partially redeemed thanks to the soundtrack that goes along with it.

To start the ball rolling, I will nominate Transformers. Just... all three of them. They are in no way amazing films, but the one thing that is always spectacular is the soundtrack. And I mean the orchestral score by Steve Jablonsky, not the generic rock they slap into it then release as "The Album."

I mean come on, listen to this stuff...

From Transformers

From Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

From Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Admittedly Transformers 3 is the weakest in terms of its score but Jablonsky's music still redeems that film quite a lot in my eyes.

Sucker Punch wasn't a great movie, but it wasn't great.
It was a fun experiment that didn't end up working perfectly in the end, but had some neat elements.
The soundtrack, however, is one of the best I've heard. Excellent covers of classic rock songs that really fit the tone of the movie.
That and the Skunk Anansi version of Search and Destroy.

Edit: And for what it's worth, I miss the old avatar. The new one keeps throwing me off.

Advent Rising. Now I've never played the game myself, but the opinions I've heard vary. Some consider it an underrated gem, while others think it's a bug-ridden mess. Regardless of one's opinions of the game itself, the soundtrack is superb:

Jablonsky also did the soundtrack for Gears of War 2. Which was also awesome.

In my eyes, Tron:Legacy. I really liked the soundtrack to that movie. And not much else really.

Dammit, nina'd again!

I completely agree with you though. The movie was okay, but I was totally diggin' the music. I was kinda rocking out to them in the theatre, and thankfully I was in the back and hardly anyone was in it.

Where is My Mind is my favorite, and Tomorrow Never Knows is another good one.

What, mine?
Yeah. I just don't associate the new one with you.
I don't know why. I'll probably just get used to it, so don't mind me.
Just an observation.

Jonah Hex was a piece of shit, but if there was anything that was good about it, it was the soundtrack.

Not a huge fan of Mastodon, but this is sweet.

Conan the Barbarian: A schlocky B-grade fantasy movie that kicked off the 1980s sword-n'-sorcery craze, booted up one Mr. Schwarzenegger's career, and cast James Earl Jones in perhaps one of his silliest roles ever.

But the soundtrack? God-tier. Quite possibly the best fantasy soundtrack in cinema. And yes, I dare to include Lord of the Rings.

Eh, I just wanted a change. I might go back to something similar, but I was getting sick of it. If I had known someone actually paid any attention to me on here I might have thought twice about it. Didn't really think I was particularly noticeable.

Well, you do have more posts than me for someone who joined months after me...
I guess I just notice this stuff. Again, it's no problem, but I'm just used to the ZP avatars.

1. Cheetahmen 2. The one song in it is amazing. The game was an unfinished, buggy nightmare.

2. Ragnarok Online is/was a pretty standard MMO grindfest, but the music is amazing.

I imagine I will eventually change it again once I find a ZP screencap that adequately expresses my particular brand of "guess what? I'm gay!" but I just fancied something different for a moment. Besides, the yellow was starting to irritate me slightly.

Definitely ninja'd. And didn't the Daft Punk cameo amuse you? The entire film was worth that one little scene for me.

I'm definetly with you in terms of Transformers, but then again, Steve Jablonsky also did Inception, and that wasn't bad.

Now I know that you can argue that The Rock wasn't all that bad, but it definitly wasn't very good. Just like the first Transformers: a relatively harmless action movie. However, the score kicked ass, but again, done by film music God himself, Hans Zimmer.

This depends... are you referring to the orchestral score or the soundtrack of proper songs by various artists?
