So, who's that one guy or girl at the party/in the classroom/wherever, that no matter what they do just seem to annoy you?

Personally, I can't stand cocky people. Particularly people who are loud and cocky. Confidence is great, but the "Hey, look at me, look at me, look at ME" attitude just sets me off. Not sure why yet. The reason I'm starting this thread is because I've just come across such a person who seems to think the entire world revolves around him. And now I am irked.

Tell me, escapists. Is it the know-it-all, the sex freak, the guy who just can't take a joke? What sort of personality just always seems to grind your gears? Do you know why?

Argh, yes, always the person that doesn't realises the world doesn't revolve around them, and need to remind everyone they exist all the time.

In the beginning of last year, had a guy like that in a course, forever telling everyone how much he knew without knowing anything. He later dropped down so we didn't have to deal with him anymore.

Second half of last year, had a guy like that, only he really did know what he was talking about most of the time. Still annoying, but not nearly as bad.

Self-righteous people. People who can defeat me in arguments come a close second, but the worst people I know are jerks who come up with excuses and suchlike. Like my brother, who unlike me is a Christian. (No offense to other Christians.) When it comes to for instance gay love he's against it, claiming that after all the Bible is pretty clear on the matter. Thing is, this brother of mine never ever donates to charity if he can help it. Now, let's ask ourselves: What did Jesus say about how to treat the poor? He was pretty clear on that point, right? Yeppers, he sure was... And still in that case, this brother of mine never ever tries to share anything with anyone. (Okay, so he did get me a couple of packets of cookies once, which was nice of him, but that's it.)

Overly happy and overly confident.
I find sadistic pleasure when they absolutely flub up and get the blues, if they're a disagreeable individual.
Otherwise I pity them and their tragic construction.

Oh, and when people can't hush up.
They continue on when it's unnecessary or they fail to notice that it's really not the time.
But...I suppose we're all guilty of that at some point.

I'm pretty certain that you entirely misread that, because I'm a pretty happy person myself.
Being too much of one or the other is simply bad for one's health, but the cynic would probably be more accepting of misfortune.

I trust that you've never had somebody extremely confident and optimistic as a good friend and then witnessed them being pretty much destroyed by events that a person closer to a more neutral disposition would recover from? Because that's what I was getting at. It's truly a sad sight to behold, entirely deserving of pity.

People who take "sadistic pleasure" in other's misfortune, no matter who they are.

It's just, if the sorrow of other's is what gives you a hard on, then you are the most "disagreeable individual" in existance.

Even worse when they smear their words in pseudo-intellectual babble.

Hey! Your new avatar! When'd you change it? I like it :)

OT: Arrogant people. Especially the ones who think they're cleverer than they actually are. On both sides of any issue it seems. They're the bane of all political/religious "debates" everywhere.

Haha, really? I find the know-it-alls sometimes possess a certain charm (in a Hermione Granger sort of way) and I don't really mind the other two.

I don't like arrogant people. One of my older brothers is full of himself, I grew up with him being a dick and it's made me really averse to those kind of people. If I get all armchair-psychiatrist on myself, I would say it's been a big factor in me growing up with very little confidence, partially from being constantly belittled as a kid and partially because I tend to immediately equate confidence to arrogance. Of course I have no idea what I'm talking about, so that's probably a load of horseshit.

Misanthropy and people that try to act cynical to be "edgy" or to come across as "mature and intellectual".

They call themselves cynics and misanthropes but I have another word for them ..... tossers.

Walking wastes of oxygen.

One phrase that seriously gets on my manly tits is "I have lost faith in humanity".

We all like a good rant, I love a good rant, but at the end of the day i'm a pretty jolly fella. It's when people try to hard to be cynical and humanity hating it just comes across as verbal shit. The world and humanity would be a much better place if they just shut the feth up.

Arrogant "funny" people.
A friend of some friends of mine is the type to vandalise stuff for fun and be proud of it. (examples: destroy the faucet at a restaurant and proudly show us the the parts he stole. Or breaking of a friends windshield wipers, because that's real mature... Asshole (he's 32 btw...))

I don't know how to describe the situation in a more eloquent manner.

When an individual says something stupid, is called on it then responds "I was just joking".

Makes a little part of my brain twitch and I lose considerable respect for that individual.

Arrogance and condescension.

I believe the best way you can judge a persons character is in how they treat those around them, as a result I really don't care how intelligent or clever you may think you are, don't ever dare presume or act like you are better than anybody else for any reason.

Loud crass people, specially when they talk to me, there's this guy at work that's like that but he's always talking to me and he stresses me a lot, the other he asked me if I ever raped a girl and I was really close to punching him, and then he just went on and on asking me questions about sex and I didn't know what to do, I was really happy when he left because I was already starting to feel like I was going to cry, kinda odd that I feel like that very often but I rarely ever actually do it.
