As the title says, I'd like to know where this term originally came from. I've tried a few internet sources and none have yielded any results. So I turn to my fellow Escapists. I put my faith in your knowledge banks.

I've never heard it used, but if I had to guess, it'd be a parody of "HULK SMASH", from the Marvel comic.

I think it somehow originates from Ogre of Revenge of the Nerds. That's the only thing I can think of besides what Aris already mentioned.

A specific gun [http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Ogre] in Borderlands uses it as a description. Other than that, I can't tell you much more.

I remember hearing it in an episode of "Unforgotten Realms" (An old video series that was on the Escapist, It's still in the video archives if you want to watch it.) But I don't think it was so popular to inspire an internet-wide meme from a throwaway line.

Probably started as an reference to "HULK SMASH" from the old comics. What with ogres and Hulk being somewhat similar. Super strong but a bit slow in the head.
