So a few months back.. this crazy thing happened to me. To save some money, my dad decided it would be a good idea to switch to a different internet provider. Unfortunately, there were a bunch of problems with our modem and existing router, and my room was left without internet. What am I supposed to do without my 4 hours of CounterStrike? I probably have addiction problems, but that's not the point here.

Along with a few other lifestyle changes that came, the most prominent one that we're going to discuss is reading. I decided to read all the books people had given me in the past few months, after looking over them for more instantaneous gains like headshots. A handful of classics like 1984 and The Catcher in the Rye, along with some contemporary stuff like House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski and Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk.

It's the best. I've become obsessed with reading.

After logging some hours on CounterStrike when my internet connection came back around, I felt like I was wasting time more than ever. Not that I ever thought video games really gave me anything other than quick reaction times and caffeine tolerance. Reading is a good time, for sure.

Before you bash CounterStrike, I don't give a shit.

What are you reading?

Actually, I'm reading Warhammer 40K novels. Grand literature? No. Fun? Hell yes.

This thread.
Wait, no.

I've got a bunch of books to read at the moment, but due to the fact that my parents don't get that talking to me when I'm reading makes my brain hurt, I'm currently skimming a compilation of Edgar Allen Poe's crazy stuff.

I'm currently working my way through the Lord of the Rings books for the second time. I hated them the first time through, but I'm enjoying them a lot more. After I finish this task, I'll start up on Fool by Christopher Moore. If you haven't read him, you should check him out. Bad puns, slapstick and incredibly well written.

a good game is not a waste of time, or at least no more than a good movie or book. Any online FPS is probably a waste of time though.
I'm reading "I drink for a reason" by David Cross, one of my favorite comedians. I'm not a big reader. And I just finished Blackest night, and I'm reading the battle royal manga, but that probably doesnt count

Well, i just finished reading Dark Lady's Chosen by Gail Z Martin. Its the fourth book in the Chronicles of the Necromancer. It was a damn good read. And a perfect end to a series. Of course, it left the way open for more books but i see this as a good thing. I think Martin created a really nice and somewhat unique world. It has a rich enough backstory to make books set earlier or later in the timeline than the current series. And she is, in my opinion, very good at bringing certain characters to life and making you feel for them.

Wirlwind by James Clavell. Really enjoy his style of writing. Tai-Pan is probably my favourite book ever and Shogun is bloody awesome as well.

That's what it's all about man. Fun brain stimulation. I love some Fantasy stuff.. I read a boatload of books about elves awhile ago. R. A. Salvatore's stuff. For personal reasons, I keep those hidden on my bookshelf.

I figured. Everyone seems to hate CS. :( I assume it's because you're all terrible, but that's not here nor there.

Stephen King is some kind of genius.. I heard some quote about him that always sticks in my mind. He gets a good idea once in every hundred books. Granted all I've ever read by him was IT, I have a lot of respect for his writing.

Actually, I found a copy of COunter-Strike: Source, that came with HL2: Deathmatch and DoD: Source at my local Gamestation, and the guys behind the counter didn't know that it was there.

Oh, yeah I guess I should probably clarify that I mean CounterStrike: Source. The older one is some garbage.
