It is said that the average person sleeps through a third of their lifetime.
(I know because I looked it up)

Average amount of lifetime on God's green earth spent in the bathroom - this is a good one, apparently according to one internet source, it is one and half years unless you are trying to attempt a tricky manoeuvre that just won't seem to come out!

It is also said that people will spend six months of their precious life force queuing in line waiting for stuff (probably for things that aren't worth queuing for in the first place).

This got my old grey matter matter thinking - ouch, it hurts!

Can you think of a task which only takes a short while (the more annoying the better) but if you stacked it back to back and averaged out how many times you were going to do it in your life you'd think "Crikey, I spend 22% of my earthly existence on shampooing my dangly bits and picking the gunk out of my toes!)

I guess a good formula to work it out would be how many times do you do a particular thing in a day (and the number of minutes it takes do this task), take 70 years old as the average age before the sweet embrace of death (maybe taking 10 as a starting age) and then do the math.

So to get the ball rolling, I thought about how much of my life I would spend buttering toast.
Let's say it takes 5 minutes a day and I eat a crumpet/muffin/hot cross bun/cracker/other butter smothered treat every other day. That means I spend 182 days a year wielding the butter knife like a demented madman.

So five minutes times 182 days times 60 (years) = 54600 minutes.

If you divide by 60 then you get the number of hours (910), which you then divide by 24 to get the number of days I will spend in toast heaven.

910 divided by 24 equals approx 38 days so five weeks of my life will be spent playing knife tennis with mellowy gold goodness.

The formula can be simplified by multiplying number of minutes per day by number of days per year and dividing by number of hours - whew! I look forward to this turning up in the next Professor Layton adventure (remember Professor - a gentlemen ensures that a person receives the correct number of royalties for his hard work).

In summary:-

Minutes doing task in a day
(x) times
number of days per year doing task
(/) divided by
24 hours
equals number of days spent doing task in lifetime.

So let's hear how long you are going to be spending doing pointless mind numbing tasks in your lives - The funnier/more outlandish the better!

(Particularly if it involves disposing of cat litter)

What is this life you speak of?

I spend about 1/2-1/3 of every day sleeping.

That is the epitome of pointless. Not doing anything for a large majority of your life.

And then after I die, I won't be doing anything other than being pointless!

Well, I'll feed the worms for a little while at least...

Working...it's the only way to live a certain ideal of life, or so im told.

About 50% work/school
About 30% sleep

And 20% for my many random things of enjoyment (drawing, cooking, gameing, traveling, makeing music) things like that.
