I know, I know! I might as well ask you to pick which of your children is your favourite, but come on it'll be fun! :)

So yeah which are your top 5 all time favourite albums? You don't have to order those five if you don't want (I'm not THAT cruel), but if you think you can then go for it!

Here's mine;

The Birthday Massacre - Violet
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
Blink 182 - Take Off Your Pants And Jacket
Mindless Self Indulgence - You'll Rebel To Anything
Dizzee Rascal - Boy In Da Corner

These aren't, of course, in rank order. That would be impossible :p

A Perfect Circle - Mer de Noms
Tool - Lateralus
Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies EP
Pearl Jam - Ten
Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E.

...These are actually pretty recent. I listen to so much music that I don't often remember everything I listen to, unfortunately.

This is not going to be at all accurate, what I'm really going to do is list 5 albums I really like and have great respect for.

Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Tom Waits - The Black Rider
Bonobo - Days to Come
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

Memories of a Time to Come - Blind Guardian

It's not quite out yet, but that's going to trump everything in my most humble opinion.

Ten off the top of my head, so clearly not definitive:

Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Nirvana - Incesticide
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Iced Earth - Horror Show
Led Zeppelin - s/t
Primus - Pork Soda
Tool - Aenima

Like I said, it'd take years of inner-debate to narrow it to five because I listen to and love so much music. But here's a few. i could think of much more obscure if given the time.

I don't really do albums anymore, all too often you get three hits and six wastes-of-space, but if I had to choose I'd point point at Metallica's discography and go "That". Perhaps Appetite for Detruction, Use your Illusion 1/2, most of Alice in Chains' releases, and STP's Core, if you absolutely insisted on a little band diversity.
Funny, when Green Day did "American Idiot" many music commentators were bemused: the idea of an album with a cohesive theme being the smash it was blew their minds: wasn't supposed to happen any more in this age of Itunes and individual downloads.

I can see why you don't do albums anymore... they so often disappoint. But when they work, they are amazing. That written,

Green Day: American Idiot
Pink Floyd: The Wall
Beatles: Abby Road
Kiss: Destroyer
Aerosmith: Toys in the Attic

Dang, there's more than 5 but those were at the top of my head.

You sir, made my day.

Both Powerslave and Rust in Peace were the first two albums that got me into both bands...

Way back in the early 90s...

God I feel old now...

My top 10 (5 was too hard) favorite albums (in no particular order)

Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime (the album is an entire story told by hair metal. Hair metal is the second best way to hear a story.

Pink Floyd - The Wall (This is the best way to tell a story. Amazing album)

Oingo Boingo - Good For Your Soul

The Cramps - Stay Sick!

VNV Nation - Empires

Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine

GWAR - Scumdogs of the Universe

Mindless Self Indulgence - Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy (their last good album IMO)

Fear - The Record

Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar (only because this album came out when I was in High School and I was hella goth >_>)
