What are your games you gush over, but you can't find anyone else that does?

We all have those games. We love them ever so much, and could spend hours talking about them. But the thing about talking is that it generally requires another person to be talked to. And sadly, this is about those games were there is no other person. You ask everyone you know, but you just can't find anyone with the same passion for it that you have.

For me it would be the entire Total War series. I have one friend that's only into Empire, but he hasn't much to say about it, and he's never around either way, so I never get to talk to him about it much anyway. The rest have either never played them, or just have no interest in them.

sigh...

A favourite action/strategy game of mine is Hostile Waters.

This game
http://www.gog.com/gamecard/hostile_waters_antaeus_rising

It was deservedly praised by critics when it was released but no-one bought it. I myself only noticed it in the 'Recommended' section of PC Zone after the game disappeared from the shelves, but I managed to find a second hand copy and gave it a whirl.

It was brilliant. I think it still is brilliant. But no-one else but me ever acknowledges this game. Even here on the Escapist, where any thread asking about good strategy games will inevitably have several posters mention Total War.

The Prototype franchise.

Sure, the narrative sucks, but all of the various powers, the movement, and the cities are so fun.

CoD Black Ops Zombies.

It's just about the only thing I have been playing for the past 2-3 years. Killing zombies until they kill you never gets old because the gameplay is tight. It's got a lot of old school run and gun feel since you are constantly dodging zombies. Takes me back to 15 years ago, when I was a teenager and games were still about mastery of control rather than interactive movies.

Persona 4 for me. I've never met anyone IRL that has actually played, or even HEARD of the game.

I'd love to be able to talk about the more spoiler-y sections of the game with SOMEONE.

Same, with the amount of love it gets on the internet in places it's hard to find people who actually love it IRL.

I mean, most people are fans of the Kingdom Hearts series, but I've never found someone that gushes about them as much as I do, and mention it whenever one of those "your favourite game" threads pop up. In real life most people dismiss it as a children's Disney game, but it's the best game series I've ever played. Ever.

Definitely Red Steel 2 for me. Yes, the first one was a sloppy, rushed piece of shite, but the sequel was beautiful, largely well-designed (outside of a couple of repetitive missions), a hell of a lot of fun, and most crucially the swordplaying motion controls worked brilliantly. It it thus far the only Wii game where I truly felt like I was a legitimately badass blade wielder.

I guess you could blame it on the fact that pretty much all third-party Wii games sunk in terms of sales, but it really deserves more attention. I honestly think it's one of the best motion controlled games ever, as well as one of the best Wii FPS's (other than Metroid Prime 3)

final fantasy 13. its one of my favorite games in the series. not only do people not love the game as much as i do, most people seem to downright hate it. i liked the character development, i loved the combat, i found the story interesting, and the game itself just looked beautiful

Mark of Kri/ Raise of the Kusai. I really enjoyed the combat, art style, and most of the mechanics. Kusai definitely had it's issues but I loved those games a ridiculous amount and they seem to be almost completely forgotten, even on the internet.

Steambot Chronicles and Gotcha Force. The latter is depressing because it's got a great setup for multiplayer but I will never be able to find anyone who plays it, even more so now...

Operation Raccoon City.

Sure, it's certainly flawed, but I think it's true to it's setting, certainly shows how a Spec Ops team could handle the whole thing.

NS2 is probably my favourite game from 2012 but I have to disagree with that 'no one plays it'. It may not have the biggest playerbase but it has a solid community and I've never had any trouble finding games with a good ping.

I have 3, maybe 4 servers I could choose from, and it's either I'm on and absolutely no server has players on them, or those 4 servers are packed and I have to wait 10 minutes for someone to quit from the losing team so I get to play that round out for awhile.

I feel I'd enjoy it twice as much as I do now if I could find an open game easier.

*edit* Or with matchmaking. God damn super fades have me outclassed.

We need more people gushing over Persona 4. Now. I know a few people on this site have played it but we need MOAR. NAO!

About £10 on Amazon buy now, beat the rush. Maybe consider the Vita version if you bought one for whatever reason. I never bothered with handhelds myself.

I don't really have another game but i'm almost the only person who references the anime "Needless." It's so GOOD. There's been one person who said they had heard of the anime before. ONE. I reference it whenever I get the chance but still nobody knows.

Oh and Skullgirls is dead online. Seriously dead. Literally zero people online at any time of the day. I can always find a match of BlazBlue:CS:EX, hell even Calamity Trigger! Those games are far older than Skullgirls! It was such a good game...

Also some of those RPGmaker games are really good yet I never see anything on the forums about them. Ib, Mad Father, The Witch's House are some of the more recent ones. Ib isn't *that* recent anymore but it's still awesome.

Oh and To The Moon. To The Fucking Moon. You can get it on Steam for £8 buy now, beat the rush.

Okami. One of my favorite games of all time, and no one I talk to has even heard of it. Makes me slightly sad to know what they're missing out on.

Really? I play on Australian servers and I always seem to be able to find a couple of 16 player games with a couple of available slots, plus a ton more full games.

OT: Section 8: Prejudice. It really is an amazing game but the playerbase is almost non existent, its such a shame.

There's also Hammerfight, an extremely unique and well made little game that I've never heard anyone even mention. Basically you control a little medieval helicopter thing in a 2d environment and you use the movement of your helicopter to give momentum to weapons attached to it which swing around your helicopter in a circular arc, using them to bludgeon other helicopters out of the air.
